ParcelForce rip off?

thanks guys.....some great tips there.......totally hacked off with getting ripped off by ParcelForce so they've had the last business from me...
Will be trying some of the others next time.....

steve....I'll IM the tracking number to you so you can trace it.

Rick, the problem is that Royal Mail have done away with Standard Parcels which allowed you to send out single golf clubs for £5.30 I think it was.

Golf clubs are too long for 1st and 2nd class post so the only option with Royal Mail is the Parcelforce one at £11 or so.

I occasionally sell a few bits and bobs that I buy here and there, but probably won't bother now unless I can find another carrier who are easy to deal with, reliable and much cheaper

That should put them out of business within a few months.

Not sure it will put them out of business, certainly will for smaller parcels as anyone with Internet access can get a quote much lower, but the cost of sending a driver is not that different between parcel force and the rest of the couriers. Unless somebody has a better link I had trouble finding anybody to send for less than £10

I meant losing Rick's trade would put ........ ;)

thanks Jezz,

the upside of using Internet based carriers is I won't have to queue up in Post Offices anymore and get served by miserable assistants who look like they are need of a damn good enema!! :o

Echo that ^^^

Usually, TNT work out cheapest for next day (just over a tenner collected from you), and Hermes for 2 day (you drop off) or 3 day (they collect from you) at about £6.

Unfortunately unless you have something very heavy like 25kg+ it is all about size. On a 7 tonne truck the difference between 100g and 4kg doesn't mean much, but the space it takes up does.

Parcel2Go also gets my vote also. Cheap prices and never had a problem!

Fixed that for you Jezz

Good thread this, I've only ever used the post office to send clubs. Think that might be changing in future!

Thank you!

I'll have you know our local tip has a 'Re-use' shop where just occasionally among all the 1960s and 70s clubs and heavyweight bags you find the odd pearl - most recently a very nice Titleist stand bag and a vintage Titleist wedge...

Just sent a few bits out via MyHermes - brilliant service.
Insured + signature cost was a fiver, uninsured 3 quid
All delivered within 2 days of dropping off at the local shop.

They'll get all my parcel business for the foreseeable.......

PO wanted 8.60 for a 2nd class parcel as it was a few mm's too big - MyHermes wanted 3 quid.
NO wonder the PO posted good profits but I can see them tumbling...

theyre great until you want to send a driver or 3 wood then you'll find the box is too big for them to accept, otherwise ive had no issues with them and have a drop off shop just round the corner

I took a parcel to the post office yesterday they wanted £15 sent it via Hermes for exactly half of that with enhanced insurance cover, the post office will surely cease when the populous realise how badly they get ripped off

I nearly fell I the floor a pair of shoes to return £8 2nd class £8.90 1st of £11.25 special should of booked via my Hermes like clubs but thought a pair of shoes was still small enough for RM to handle. No more that's me done with them now.
