I've just posted out 2 pacakges this week.....

.....a complete set of irons in a normal sized OEM irons box weight 3.4kg price £12.92

.....a driver shaft in the same length box but just big enough to fit the shaft ..... weight 0.342kg price £11.96

Now I know size matters..... :o, but surely that cant be right?

Also last year the same packages would have cost me no more than £6 to send with the Post office, but now they say they wont take anything that size and it has to be ParcelForce..... What a rip off! :sbox:

Anyone got any recommendations for reasonably priced courier companies within the UK for sending out golf gear?

Parcel2go.com is THE best and cheapest.

You can track online and even get items picked up from your home or office.

Wouldn't go anywhere else.

I have used them over 20 times and 100% satisfied.

Echo that ^^^

Usually, TNT work out cheapest for next day (just over a tenner collected from you), and Hermes for 2 day (you drop off) or 3 day (they collect from you) at about £6.

Unfortunately unless you have something very heavy like 25kg+ it is all about size. On a 7 tonne truck the difference between 100g and 4kg doesn't mean much, but the space it takes up does.

I used parcel2go a few days ago, using TNT, and it was £10.62 for 24 hour delivery. Myhermes won't send anything over 120cm ... So no drivers.

+1 for parcel2go.co.uk if you create an accoount you can track and manage everything.

I got 2 car doors picked up for a mini cooper(old style) from London for £7.50 each. They weighed 19kg each.

I also ship my golf clubs to spain with dhl via there international service. Cost to send on a 3 day delivery is £15.99. get them picked up the day before I fly, fly over and they are delivered the next day. same goes for the return leg.

Ryanair charge £45 to take my clubs.

I have the advantage my mum has a house in spain to send them to, but the hotels let you do this as well

Just buy a hard golf bag carry case

Less than 5kg, size is much more important. In any case, both prices are too much to pay.

I have shipped more than 100 times to UK, Europe, US and Asia using Interparcel and that is always my preferred method. Good value, reliable and item is picked up. You need to be able to weigh and size the box and print off a label.

They (and parcel2go) sell shipping services with a range of couriers, including UPS, DHL, FedEx and others and you can choose the service speed you want. In prefer UPS but FedEx and DHL are fine too. In my opinion, Hermes, City Link and the others are less reliable. A single golf club should be less than £10 for 24-48 hour shipping within the UK.

With all these shipping services, it is useful to get the smallest box that will safely contain the club, shaft etc. Sometimes it is worth cutting the box down if you have a wedge in a driver box, say.

Yodel are a nightmare, the wife needed something picked up ,so your meant to get a txt saying when there coming to collect, went into the back porch ,parcel away and a card on the floor no door knocking or ringing or txt. Pretty poor and Rick the clubs aren't here yet, ParcelForce are a nightmare beside me.:(

posted a few clubs at the start of the week, more costly than i was expecting, the woman behind the counter said the prices went up just a few weeks back....

will be using a courier from now on if i can

thanks guys.....some great tips there.......totally hacked off with getting ripped off by ParcelForce so they've had the last business from me...
Will be trying some of the others next time.....

steve....I'll IM the tracking number to you so you can trace it.

Rick no worries mate they'll be here soon enough, our Parcelforce service is a joke in Dundee there inn the process of changing it.

parcel2go look decent but they sometimes use yodel who I was unfortunate to be lumbered with. Hellish service from yodel.

I agree about Yodel, but with Interparcel and parcel2go you choose which service you want. It isn't a random process where you book blind and may get Yodel or UPS based on chance.
