A number of recent threads have already said the same thing as your post title. I don't use them if I can avoid it.

Fair bit better than both DPD and UK Mail though. I ordered a new club and some balls from Direct Golf ten days ago as different packages and DG are using two different companies. Neither have managed to deliver to me despite giving them my phone number and my work address and DPD even sent it back to DG!
Needless to say, when I eventually get my packages, I won't be using Direct Golf again.

At least Parcelforce have some sort of ethics, given that the government owns them

I am waiting for a parcel. It was sent from Miami, leaving on May 2nd. It left the US on May 5th and arrived on May 8th in the UK. On May 8th, it was noted as awaiting customs clearance. On May 15th, it was still noted as same. Eventually on May 22nd, I received a letter asking for payment of custom charges, which I did that day, and booked delivery for May 28th when someone was going to be here to receive it. Nothing came, so I rang Parcelforce who told it was out for delivery today, when nobody will be able to receive it.

This is typical of the shambles of the Parcelforce service. They blame it on HMRC, but that is not the truth. Their customs charging department in Coventry is incompetent and doesn't give a toss about the customer. I have dealt with them before and they can't tell the difference between a US dollar symbol and a Japanese Yen symbol, even though there was a clue in the fact the package was coming from Tokyo.

Parcelforce charges the exact same clearance fee as UPS or Fedex. However the professional courier companies clear customs in minutes, not weeks.

the worst by a mile are my hermes, took them 3 weeks to deliver a club that was sent on 24 hour delivery, i could have beaten the driver with it when it arrived.... finally.

DPD are the best courier ive found by miles.

Sending parcels i use Interparcel ( UPS )

Receiving parcels, i always state Parcelforce ONLY.

I have a 100% success with Parcelforce delivering to me on time, and undamaged.

My Hermes are the worst, followed by DPD, Interlink, etc.

I have been pretty happy with Parcelforce recently. I have sold 2 clubs and a set of irons on here recently and all have arrived in the 3 days quoted as the minimum delivery time.

Try using DPD, sent a parcel last week and they come again yesterday asking for the parcel, when I contacted them my case was passed around numerous numpties who didn't have a clue what they were on about. One proclaimed that i never left the parcel when I personally handed it the driver myself and another said there was nothing they could do. Finally a reasonable bloke contacted me to say it had the wrong consignment number and was being delivered, stay clear of this farce!

Add UKMail to that. Ordered stuff from Direct Golf and added a "safe place" to leave as I am at work every day and their "local" depot isn't exactly local at 40 miles away.
So i get home today to find an out card and no package in the safe place. Also had no notice from DG of the items being dispatched which I always had in the past. Maybe they are getting a bit big these days.

I must be very, very lucky as I've never had a problem with Parcelforce *touches wood*. On numerous occasions I've been out and they've left a card saying to pick the parcel up from the local PO. A lot handier than arranging for a parcel to be left in a safe place, although to be fair I've done this with DPD/Interlink and its went without a hitch.

Just to put a tin hat on it, Parcelforce tried to deliver the parcel on the wrong day, were unable to do so, so left it in the post office and left a card for me.

So I go into the PO this morning and while waiting in the queue can see the parcel standing behind the muppet at the desk. Get to the front and Kermit then says he can't release the parcel until 1pm, because the card says to allow 1 day after the failed delivery. Says the same to the woman behind me who asked if she had misheard.

A lengthy conversation then ensued which included the words 'jobsworth', 'moron' and 'shove the fecking parcel .....'.

Complaint email sent. Breath not being held.

Out of curiosity I just phoned my mate who works for the PO. He was astounded. There is nothing in PO rules to state that it shouldn't have been released. The time they put on the card is to allow them to return it to the PO or sorting office (depending on the volume of deliveries it can be anywhere from 2 hours to 24 hours) but once the item has been returned it's available for collection immediately.
He did also recommend you complain, but as you have already done this that is redundant advice :D
