I didn't realise this until earlier today, but Paolo Maldini retires at the end of this season. He's got 2 games left, this weekend at the San Siro, and away to Fiorentina next weekend. I've just had a look at his page on Wikipedia, and the figures are outstanding.
He made his debut as a 16 year old in 1984, and in a career which has lasted 25 years he's made exactly 900 1st team competitive appearences for AC Milan and been capped 126 times for Italy. He's won 7 Serie A titles and 5 European Cups.
When we talk of football legends this mans name should be at the top of the list.
AC Milan are retiring the No. 3 shirt after this season, and have said they'll only bring it back if one of Maldini's sons ever makes the Milan 1st team. His oldest son plays for Milan's youth side, and his 5 year old younger son can tackle like this.
