When I first joined this forum 7 years ago and asked peoples opinion about joining the ladies section of a club. the comments for the most part were encouraging.
Reading this thread some of the comments make me think that rather than things improving for trans people they are getting worse.

Regarding labels, I'll be honest, I don't really get it. I don't really care what people's sexual preferences are, I've never really considered this as something that matters when deciding if I like someone or not. I do find the concept of more than 2 genders (hermaphrodites excepted) hard to grasp. Maybe my mind is too simple, but to me, there are 2 genders and infinite combinations as to what individuals find attractive.
This is a false equivalence, as I don't think there is any doubt that transitioning from male to female will decrease the physical advantages a male has. The question is does it decrease them to the same level as a from birth female? If you were born female, how far would you hit a 5 iron? Obviously, we will never know the answer to this question.
However, we can look at the average distances from the R&A\USGA study, which shows that for a female at your handicap, the average distance with a driver is 176 yards. There is no data for 5 irons, but going off the driver, you would expect it to be around the 110 yard range, so chances are you still have some residual advantage.
I think this is a very controversial area at the moment, as there isn't really enough science to back up a decision, so a lot of anecdotal evidence is used (like both you and I have), which tends to make arguments more emotive.

That was a brave old/original thread you posted Louise.
Upto this thread I wasn't even aware and as mentioned before I take people for who they are, so not relevant to my thinking about people and I certainly tip my hat to you for your honesty. Brave stuff and for pushing peoples ways of thinking is great.
I think any other view should have been left back in the 70s and before, when such views were more common.
