So how was 2012 for you, good, bad or no different?

Are you pleased to see the back of 2012 and looking forward to 2013, if so why?

On a personal basis, 2012 was excellent with my first full year at my club, played courses all over the country and met many new golfing friends. Really looking forward to 2013 to build on the foundations that are hopefully now in place with my game, play more courses and meet even more great people.

On a business front, worse year in our 11 year history, retail is on its backside, getting screwed from all angles so can't wait to see the back of 2012 and start a fresh in 2013, nothing concrete yet but I'm looking forward to new challenges and turning a page on the retail front. Its been good to us in the past but times and attitudes have changed.

Had a frustrating year here mainly due to injury. As many know I tore my calf in March which led to a month off then I came back too early and managed to rupture it leading to a short spell on crutches and me missing most of the summer from a golf perspective.

Golf wise I managed to get to the final of the winter singles and pairs knockout but said injury meant the finals got delayed and I lost both in back to back weekends :( Slightly made up for by winning the mid week summer pairs knockout. Managed to win a team event pro-am earlier in the year but played little competitive golf really and the handicap has stayed where it was.

Aims for 2013 are very basic and not focussed on the level of golf I play or handicap targets etc its simply to stay fit and healthy to enable me to play all year round (a rare occurrence over the last 10 years, mainly due to knee probs) and to play at as many different courses as possible over the year (I have a list of potential courses totalling 50ish), hopefully many of those will be with other forumites (time to start self inviting a bit more I think!)

From a personal perspective when I was injured I managed to put on weight (onto to not the smallest of starting frames) so have been on a health drive since, and have lost approx 3 1/2 stone now. Going forward I plan to reassess my work options next year, though no real urgency to do so it may be time for a change.

Golf wise won Foursomes matchplay and Eclectic Stableford with 67 points. Birdies on 6 different holes and made 3x2's our hardest par 3 twice. Got cut 3 shots as well. Went to Vegas twice met Butch Harmon both times and got to play some great courses.
A load of new gear this year so hoping to spend this years extra cash on playing more courses over here. Swing isn't perfect right now but not terrible either and have things to work on over the winter so pretty upbeat about it.

Outside of golf still got a job while many mates have lost theirs so thankful for that.
Got a lot of home improvements done at the beginning of 2012 so Wifey is happy her house is the way she wants it which makes my life easier.
March saw the surprise birth of my 3rd child which was a boy after 2 girls the youngest being 6, so that was great and my youngest is starting to get into the golf and seems to be a natural unlike her old man.
For 2013 all I will be happy if things go as easy as 2012. Although a lottery win would be nice. Lol.

A pretty good year by anyones standards. Became the grandparents of a gorgeous little girl for the first time. Reached 60 with hardly any of my own body parts but without any operations this year . Won a fair few golf comps topped with a 1st win of the winter 4BBB pairs. Closer to semi retirement and hopefully more golf.

Yep ok was this one

Steady for me
Nothing sparkiling and once the Spring was out of the way nothing too horrendous.
A decent Autumn saw me win 3 out of the last 4 comps with a 2nd place in the 4th and keeping the handicap.

Don't know what the next year holds - see my "What to Do" thread.

Personally, the job trickles it's merry way along - sometimes busy, sometimes not. The Boy is doing well in School and HID is mostly happy.
Going to try to lose a bit of bulk but it's never been easy for me - always been "big boned"!!
As long as things stay relatively as they are I won't be too unhappy...

Golfing wise it was dodgy start to the year as I was still trying to hit the ball right to left rather than left to right. Come the summer, it started to click. This was backed up excellent scores during the rest of the summer and autumn. Highlight was knocking it around Royal Lytham in 76, with a double bogey on the last (duh). Haven't played much since October so the game is very rusty, especially from 100y in.

Early in the year, got a driver fit at Precision Golf, spending a decent wedge of cash to get something excellent. However, with the swing changes to hit the irons very well, I found with driver, 3w and hybrid that I couldn't hit them. I've now stopped using woods and replaced them with a Fli-Hi. Using irons off the tee has definitely helped with scoring.

Work wise, our company was taken over by a Canadian firm. Period of uncertainty as some were laid off; fortunately I've survived for this year. My job has changed meaning I work from home all the time - saves on diesel & commuting, but don't have the team 'feeling'.

Home life is fine. Eldest started school and is loving it. :D . One bad point is that we had our long term family cat put down last month :(

All in all, not a bad year.

Ain't got a cousin by the name "Voce" have you? ;)

2012

Golf wise pretty much a wash out after I changed jobs, every part of my game nose dived due to lack of practice time. But after changing roles internally in the new company things have steadied a little and got a small cut.

Personal wise, a fair to middling year really. Had to come to terms with the ex moving the kids to Chester to be with her new man almost a year to the day today. Plus worked more hours than i'm contracted to do due to weather.

2013:

Golf Wise: Work on the swing to make it more rotational and functional, lots of time on the putting green with a normal length putter and hope the cuts come through good play rather than focusing on a number I need to shoot.

Personal life, get it back on track by spending more time in the gym and eating right. Then see where life takes me, no pressure on myself this year for a change

Golf-wise, near enough my worst year in over 40 yrs of golf. Went from 5.2 to 6.2.Didn't appear in the top 3 on any Saturday at the club but picked up a little on my travels.

Work - the company I work for isn't huge in the UK, and we've just been told they have to make savings. No one's feeling very safe.

Home - pretty damn good.

EEEK >> went to talk to a pro last week about a few lessons , my golly i think everything is wrong with my game ha.. work starts after crimbo ..

2012 home .. started bad with a funeral on Jan 2nd but was kinda expected & a happy release , so personal sadness but relief for the person involved .. apart from that all the family & extended family are happy & healthy so no complaints ..

Just looking forward to the 2013 golfing year in singles and matchplay (myself and my 4BBB partner are unbeaten in 2 years, bounce games included)

Golf wise I hit the ball much better and more steadily. Handicap down from 13 to 10 and a half decent short game next year will see me hit single figures. Won a comp (presentation night tonight) and runner up twice. Things are moving in the right direction.

On a personal level it was a crap year as my mum's health deteriorated as the year progressed up to her death in September. 2013 means a fresh start and I do feel a weight has been lifted. Think my golf will be a big focus and it starts at Woburn on 27th March which would have been mums birthday. 2013 is the year of the Homer

2012 golf: Had gotten pretty happy with my pitch-and-putt game. Can't putt worth a damn but being a bit more daring with shots than my partners was working out well. Due to lack of practice time the swing faded a lot. Finally got to play 'proper' golf. Was hoping to fit in another jolly 'round the course before crimbo hit but it's not to be.

2012 home: A pretty mediocre year. My boss (amazing to work for) sold off his business to a father/son pair that seemed to be just like the boss I'd left my last job over. Turns out they're not that bad and managed to sort it out that I earn more money. After nearly 3 years of trying to no avail, lots of tests and hospital visits we've finally started fertility treatment this month :)

2013 golf: Looking to play a few rounds at local clubs then see about a membership somewhere. Get the handicap sorted out. Work on my driving, so I'm not slicing the ball into oblivion. Looking forward to embarrassing myself at the Kent meet in March. Mostly just having fun at this stage.

2013 home: Would love to sort out a new job. One where I'm challenged and not bored all day. Something on the cards would be nice, too - tired of unpaid leave. Number one concern, though: having the fertility treatment pay off.
