How does GM compare to the other mainstream golf mags e.g. Todays Golfer, Golf World. Are there any toher ones that are worth subscribing.

I have a sub for Golf World, but am thinking of stopping it.. IMHO, GM is more inclusive than the other mags, i.e. it gets the readers involved, rather than just a one way street from ed to reader.

I get a few more electronic ones likes Golf Post, National Club etc..

they all tend to be the same, and how many tips on chipping/putting/driving do we actually need? the monthly shoot out between different clubs is fine if your in the market to buy(but most stick to one make)the sections about society days out is fine but like everything else most of the story's or features are just adverts for one manufacturer or another, all mags are there to make money that is there sole aim golf mags sell golf equipment ,boat mags you get the drift,i tend to read the golf mags the lads bring into work and only for the cover i cant tell one from the other.

I used to get them all, tg, gm and gw and bunkered. But stopped getting tg cos it was just rubbish just all about tips and some z lister playing for 20 quid. I really like bunkered but that's on 8 issues a year. I really should subscribe to gm as I always get it without fail but never got round to it yet. I just like to read about golf that's why I get them. Gm is the best IMO just cos it's varied and as previously stated it gets the readers involved, which makes it better.

I'm very bad, end up buying them all. Spend a fortune.

We get one here in Ireland called Golf Digest Ireland, it's quite good from a local perspective.

Enjoy Golf Monthly and Today's Golfer.

Not a huge fan of Golf World for some reason

[I subscribe to gm and todays golfer both just as good as each other although ive been lucky enough to be chosen three times to appear in todays golfer ( including the sept issue and next month ) sorry for the blatant plug : ) no luck with gm yet wink wink.Think theres more interaction with the gm readers on here than tg, and think tg focuses too much on selling than actual features, id say gm is a better read overall.

I subscribed to TG for about 8 years, recently changed to GWorld, quite like it.Will stop the subs though, so they ring you to offer you a better deal. No rewards for staying loyal. I might give GM a go in the future. Can't believe there's so many tips on how to cure a slice!!!!

I used to subscribe to them all but only gm now, occasionally pick up gw or tg but neither come up to the level of gm IMHO.
I did get a copy of the 1st issue of golf illustrated and was impressed with the overall quality, just found it hard to stump up £10 for a mag. Finally i Have occasionally seen golf international and that's very good too.

It's only a quarterly magazine but Golf Illustrated is a superb read. No gear reviews, instruction or travel deals. Just good writing, superb photography and very different articles. http://www.golfillustrated.co.uk/

+1

I love it, and it's that good quality I feel I should be wearing a smoking jacket to read it. Well worth a subscription.

Obviously GM is the bestest tho.. ;)

My daughter pays my GM subs as a Christmas present every year. Do'nt read any others but I appreciate where some of you are coming from buying several as I used to do the same with motorcycle mags. It was my monthly fix. Still got lots of Fast Bike editions in a cupboard upstairs. It is? was the best of the bunch.

I may have to try a few others as GM only lasts me a few days and I have no golf reading for the rest of the month.

I feel they are all pretty much the same format. Letters from the readers, a exclusive with a 'star player' and tips for your game. Along with page after page of advert. I buy GM and today's golfer.

Bunkered [in Scotland] do great free round offers to subcribers.
Played Turnberry Kintyre in the spring and off to The Dukes at St Andrews in a couple of weeks.
All for about £35.

I get Golf World as they do have some decent articles. TG is definitely aimed at the lowest common denominiator and is a bit like a red top paper in its approach. Wouldn't trust any of their reviews. GM is the best out there but it needs to keep working and moving forward
