Golf Magic was good in it's day but then it became a one thread forum (seen some signs of that on this one).
Golf Magic bit the dust when they started awarding points for people posting and starting threads in an effort to drive up traffic. No end of reviews of things like "pink castle tees" that then spawned dozens of responses just so folks could drive their points up.

Some of the mid 2000's meets were decent before the rot set in.

Remember the Lynx Boom Boom 2 thread ?

I was on Magic before I joined Monthly.
It was the match between the two forums at Forest Pines the got me involved in Monthly.

When things started going steeply downhill at Magic it was an easy step across to Monthly.

One of the guys at the club still uses a Boom Boom driver

I know there are others like Hackers Paradise, Golf WRX, etc, but this is the only one I've actually frequented. Eight years ago I'd been re-bitten by the golf bug, my WhatsApp pals weren't responding quickly enough/at all, so I simply Googled 'golf forum' and this one was the top hit. So you all have Google to blame thank. 👀

That was a heated debate😂

I think I had long gone before the points started.

Golf WRX is US dominated and has a variety of forums (fora).
The Sand Trap similarly.
Toronto Golf Nuts also but is obviously Canada based

The Leith Society is only about serious and technical Rules questions.

I don't think so , it seemed more like it was just left to rot by the owners and was just endless spam messages and a really.

Dunno...I started on the BBC Sport Golf Forum. Then the BBC shut down most of their sport-specific forums. A few on it moved to a US-based golf forum and had a UK Clubhouse/Lounge sub-forum set up for them. I don't recall what happened to that but I think it was dying a death and someone on it pointed me here. And here I've stayed - in sickness and in health, in richer and for poorer - til something will us part.

...and just think - all these lovely folks you'd have never met and who'd have never met you sir! 😄

The boom boom thread was the stuff of legend. 🤣
One minute they're advertising a miraculous driver with a heated headcover, next minute someone mentions that the headcover was illegal and Golf Magic hit the panic button as they were taking advertising money from Lynx...

"Nobody must talk about the illegal headcover..."

Hey, who needs integrity when there's a few £££ flying around? :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
