On the verge of giving up

Steve in all honesty you are pish at golf and I would give it up too. I blame it all on that porn star golf bag, ever since that monstrosity of a butchered crocodile made its appearance as a golf bag your game has gone further south than Rolf Harris dude!

I' ll give you a ton for both your driver and 3 wood!

I took the trouble to get this for you

hey, that's what mates are for!

If that doesn't work have a butchers on here

Turn/turn are the only swing thoughts you need buddy.

The offer is always open anyhoo Steve. ;)

I feel your pain.
I've been having similar thoughts recently out on the course but realised that I couldn't expect to play good golf and under my H/C when I was working on a couple of things and wasn't practising.
I was expecting something that was unrealistic. Luckily I realised it before I ended it all, got myself down the range a few times in a few days and started fighting back. Have made a promise to myself to keep going down there through thick and thin.

If I ever have thoughts like this I remember that Saturdays will involve spending time shopping etc with the Mrs. Usually cures me pretty quickly. :D

Seriously.... Like many others above, take a break then don't try to fix everything at once.

I feel your pain as i'm in a similar position. Been here before and for me boils down to trying too hard and over-thinking my swing. Out last night for a tuesday medal round and started so badly that thought about chucking it at the 4th! After the pressure of holding card left and i played with a "don't care about the score as i'm up 0.1 anyway" my game improved (marginally!) and i enjoyed it better.

It's frustrating as i've spend all winter at the range working on my game to be ready for the new season and when that arrives it has gone to pieces. I won the first medal of the year as i was relaxed and confident in my swing. Now i've got the demons back as i've placed pressure on myself to win and get cut every week.

I'm just trying to relax more on the course and enjoy the game...no point playing if it's 4hours of misery and frustration. Maybe a short break from the game is in order for us both.

Even the pro's go through bad spells, look at Rory after the Masters, never seen a player so down. Just relax, you're playing below what you know you're capable of but that happens to every sportsman in every sport.

You'll be back, and then we can listen to you bleat on about how great Ping are again ;)

Steve, it's so sad to hear of your troubles. How much do you want for the clubs?
Seriously, whilst in Ireland, try pi$$ed up golf. My mate swears by it. Get hammered the night before, get up grab a quick coffee with whiskey in the morning before the golf and away you go. Mind you he is an alcoholic.

You need a break m8 i felt the same few months back had 6 weeks off went back playing hit every thing straight and thought yes, this is it got it then started to play erratic again and sat back and thought have to play this game level headed and just enjoy not trying to hit everything perfect which no1 can do and when u play a bad shot not to beat your self up about it!!
Its a game we play because u enjoy and always try to better yourself next time.

Thanks for the advice and support guys,i've alot to think about, am normally a laid back guy that doesn't get frustrated but recently i'm stressed out about it.
Will just have to remember am crap and try and get on with it :).
Don't worry Alan,Ivan i'd come out of retirement for that guys.Crawford didn't expect anything elese from you mate :),deep down you want that bag and the shoes and your correct since i got that bag my games went Pete Tong

Agree with whoever said play your commitments and take a break.

Try to get some chores done, we've all really got a stack of things we say we'll do in 'a couple of weeks' (ive got loads i've put off till the summer break). After a couple of weeks of chores/shopping/gardening and the like you'll be keen again to get back out there again.

Dont stress about it, its supposed to be our spare time

I was playing in a club comp at Tulliallan GC, near Falkirk and on the 15th - a short uphill par 3, with a falloff right and left of the green, one of my playing partners, off 2, was unlucky in that his ball failed to hold the green and fell over the edge and down a 10/15 foot drop.
On reaching his ball he pitched up, hit the edge of the green and the ball landed back at his feet. He lifted the ball, asked if we wanted a set of clubs and walked off.
On reaching the clubhouse we found out that he had indeed gave away his set of clubs and bag and also his golf shoes but left his golf balls and brolly for my other playing partner and me!

Drastic indeed for someone with such golfing talent. Never did find out if he returned to the game or not.

Advice...life is short... enjoy!!

Am going to play the Pitlochry Open next saturday as its a course i like then my Ireland trip then will take it from there am not going to play this weekend to see how i get on,i'm off this weekend so have plenty to do about the house.
Never know might enjoy not make an arse of myself everytime i play, now where's my bowls :D
Again thanks for the advice and support

hi buddy, take a wee break if you need it but dont let the fact you blew the the title get you down mate. I think thats where this is coming from :D
ps - you could have got done for speeding :o

Spend a couple of weeks studying You Porn.
Should build up some wrist strength and help you whip through the ball.
The ever helpful ;)

Cheers Smiffy have tried that now have arms like Charlie Atlas :)

Am on the verge of giving up this stupid game ,last season i was down to 9 and enjoying the game now i find myself playing of 11 and just going thru the motions. I seem to have lost my love for the game, i always look forward to playing different courses new challanges but now i cant be bothered.

I've recently had 3 lessons which i thought would help ,i thought they were working but really they've just scrambled my brain to the point that my swing now looks like a wrecking ball on acid, if i make contact i dont even know which direction it will go its that bad, i,ve even started to get the putting yips from inside 2 feet.

I'd have given up by now but am booked to play the Pitlochry Open in 2 weeks and am off to Ireland for a week in 4 weeks time both have been paid for.

In desperation on saturday my mate said just try and be like Freddie Couples who seems to saunter about with his trainers on and not a care in the world it lasted 2 shots then the demons came back and messed me about.

Apologies guys for the suicide note :)but thats the way my game is :) :) :) :)
m8, i feel your pain. finished last season on 8.9, having managed to maintain single figures for two seasons. since the beginning of this season have lost single figures(9.7), and have now developed a severe dose of the sherman j's. hit a tee shot at our par 3 6th hole 50 yards straight right in the midweek medal, and for about 30 secs i had decided i was walking in, it wasnt any fun. thing is ive been here before and recovered, so you can too m8, never, ever give up! i have a lesson fri, hoepfully help me, but maybe a different pro, a different approach could help you? whatever happens m8, i wish you the best of luck!
