So, I'm looking at adding a hybrid to my bag, following my 12 club thread the other day. Something to sit between 5W and 4i, but must have the added capability to swerve trees and as will be frequently required, playability from bushes, leaves, tree roots and other dense vegetation. Think Ray Mears golfing.

Owing to budget restraints, I'm looking second hand and possibly an older model hybrid, something I can get at a good price. No need to advocate lessons, fittings, 'or try as many as you can', as most sellers on ebay would frown upon such notions.

So, after scouting about, I've listed a few above that have taken my fancy. Would be grateful for your input chaps or any other suggestions of a similarly suited club.

Love always,

x

Which ones have you listed?

I really like my srixon ad hybrids...got a 4 from eBay (arrived today) to go with my 3.

Edit- sorry didn't see this was a poll haha. In that case I'd say the Mashie. Used to have one and it's very similar to the srixon (same company?).

None of the above.

Have a look at the original Taylormade hybrids, really solid feel of them giving a lovely contact. They went right down to 14* so good range of lofts. Expect they will be cheap as chips now on ebay.

Callaway FT
Ping G5/10
Titleist 585 - not too forgiving
Cobra Baffler
Cleveland 2009 Launcher

Probably a few more but those will be a good place to start

The original TM Rescues are hard to beat too.

Later models are more 'fairway' and short rough oriented, but the originals pack plenty of punch for getting out of quite deep rough or other junk.

They go for about £35 + delivery on Fleabay.

Heard some good stories about Dunlop and Benross ones at the cheaper end.

I'd pic 19 to 21 degree is about the right loft to fill that gap.

I've got a #2 G10 hybrid and i wouldn't swap it for anything.

It looks much better than the horrible G15 hybrids.

G15 might be ugly, but it's unbelievably easy to hit, from tee, fairway and rough. I'm regularly taken aback with how it deals with some silly lies you'd be scared to take anything longer than a mid-iron to. More of a driving iron look - I've the 17 - heartily recommended.

I think you have the wrong idea of a hybrids strengths..... :)

This is what wedges are for, the hybrid gets used off the tee so that you don't have to play these shots with it !
