Old Course Handicap Certificates.

We went to the old course 18 months ago and I had same issue with my nephew he didn't renew his membership as he was off to uni.
His club hadn't removed his active status off his CDH number so we showed the page on our phones as we were asked as was everyone around us.
But in preparation to going I queried with the links trust and found they accept golf club GB online h/cap Certs so a £12 online fee to them 3 cards in the post and any worries were quelled in advance.

I played in October and was asked for my certificate.
I think a competition handicap in 2015 will still be valid in 2016 so should be OK.

I would take the advice given by p brown and ALSO take along the £12 certificate. No way would I be able to cope with being turned away from the Old Course!

I think the salient point being that the OP was turning up on spec, whilst others are already booked into play.
