I just watched this move on Showtime, It's about the run-up to the invasion of Iraq. It's a true story and is very well done. I suggest everyone should see it.
 
Perhaps thread drift but it may not be widely known that you do not need to ‘sign the Official Secrets Act’ to be subject to it. You generally sign as acknowledging that you have been informed that you are specifically subjected to the Act in the position you are undertaking.

Yes. I get that it applies people who handle top secret information even if they are contractors. We have a whistle blower law here in the states that is supposed to protect people who report government corruption as long as they go through the proper channels. The film led me to believe that the UK doesn't have that provision, but maybe I'm wrong.
My take is there is a fine line between someone like Daniel Ellsburg and someone like Edward Snowden. I don't know the answer as to who is a patriot and who is a traitor. I guess it depends on your perspective. That's why I found the movie so fascinating.
