Off Kimmi's Christmas card list

On Verstappen I think Vettel summed it up in saying in 5 years he will think differently and he will have learned a lot. He's certainly pushing the limits and at only 18 is going to be a top driver for years to come. The JB announcement was a strange one. I'm sure he'll be a excellent ambassador (whatever that actually means!) but will he come back in 2018? I doubt it somehow. He surely has a ready made media career whenever he wants it. Massa been around a long time now, never one of the greats but generally in the mix. Will be missed I'm sure.

Not sure Button will get a drive the season after next as he'll be that much older and the cars will have moved on again. Not sure what being an "ambassador" means but nice of the team not to simply sever their ties or freeze him out

I agree, especially after having a year off.
I'd like to see him and David Couthard host the F1 shows next year and get rid of Steve Jones

Max Verstappen continues to cause controversy and gets a gentle warning from the FIA and no Massa or Button next year.
Thoughts?

I like Verstappen and his over exuberant style, but I do agree with Vettel's comments in that if he continues with his aggressive defending and overtaking he will cause a big accident.

I'm all for aggressive driving and thought Daniel Ricciardo's pass on Valtteri Bottas last weekend was truly immense. For those of you who haven't seen it:

When driving at that kind of speed, especially through corners, there is a right and wrong way to attack and defend and I think (Mad) Max is treading the thin line between the two.

Certainly ruffling the feathers of some of the established drivers! Especially the Ferrari pair!

Didn't Senna get celebrated as the best driver ever for his brutal overtaking and defending? There was a documentary once where he got lauded for his attitude of letting the other driver chose to slow down or crash. Then Schumacher did similar for a while (before he got to far and made people crash).
Hamilton isn't really calm out there, especially with Rosberg.

So how is Verstappen so much different?

Within the rules of F1 a defending driver may make 1 change of direction (See rule 20.4)

" Any driver defending his position on a straight, and before any braking area, may use the full width of the track during his first move, provided no significant portion of the car attempting to pass is alongside his.

Whilst defending in this way the driver may not leave the track without justifiable reason. For the avoidance of doubt, if any part of the front wing of the car attempting to pass is alongside the rear wheel of the car in front this will be deemed to be a ‘significant portion’."

I don't recall this rule in place when Senna and Schumacher were racing (Happy to be corrected of wrong)

Verstappen leaves it until the last second before moving to defend. If he gets it slightly wrong at that speed am it's a major prang.

I'm no expert, but when someone of the experience of Kimi Raikkonen says it's wrong, I believe him.
