Numbers on the ball - mean anything to you ??

madandra has it (as far as I know anyway). The number is just ID.

You hit a No.1 one off the tee, think you may have lost it, so play a number 2 as provisional. So you can then tell which is which if you find both. (If you can't tell which is which, you can break a shedful of rules and rack up many a penalty shot)

When I buy mine, I mix them up so that each sleeve of three has three differently numbered balls in it. Makes it easy to ensure that you don't play two with the same number. I've always wondered why they don't come supplied with three different numbers in a sleeve?
