Hey Guys,

I'm in the Market for a set of Irons and wanted some advice. This isn't your typical "what should I buy" thread but more of "When?". The advice I'm wanting is if I would get better deals on Irons now in the build up to Christmas or would I be better to wait until the New Year and then shop around in the sales hoping to get a bargain??

A lot of manufacturers have already released (Mizuno, TM, Nike, Ping) so there are a lot of new irons out there. I'm guessing that if the R11 driver has been sighted then R11 irons won't be far behind. Otherwise you have a choice. Look at what is already out or wait until March, April and May when most new season lines will be released.

Some sets from some manufacturers - Ping, Mizuno etc never seem to drop in price if new sets come out. Yeah, they may drop a few % but not like TM or some of the others. YOu'll still be paying a hefty price for G15's or MP52's even though they've been superceded.

not so sure on the Mizunos Imurg, had a couple of emails from golf shops and price now seems down to £300ish for Mp52s or 62s

I think I'm going to try and put off until Jan, even though the VAT is going to go up it's only a minimal increase and I can see most of the big retailers offering incentives to spend in the new year.

I was looking to get something from either this seasons or last seasons Mizuno range. Hopefully I will be able to get something form their game improving clubs that's either new or secondhand for around the £300 mark?

No guarantees but I wouldn't be surprised if AG and others try and freeze the VAT early next year to try and get more sales
