Now I'm really annoyed

As Fragger would testify, Imurg's driving(golf not cars!!) is worse than useless. There is not a word to describe it.
Help from Uncle Bob has failed to spark any life at all. I went to a Callaway demo day at my club a few weeks back and the Pro noticed that my alignment was a little off. A tweak here and a tweak there and I drove the ball well enough to get a new driver which worked ok for a short while until the slice, push, block, pull and anything else you care to mention kicked in again.
Alignment I thought - it must be out again. Tried really hard over the last few rounds to get it right - didn't really have time for a decent range session - to no avail.
Today. Family away, couple of hours work in the morning, range all afternoon.
Set myself up with £6 worth of balls, drink, mars bar and I was ready. This was going to be a long afternoon. Warmed up with some wedges, going through the bag to the 3 wood. Everything normal.
OK on to the driver. I'd poked around in the garage and found a couple of bamboo canes to use as alignment sticks. I thought I'd try a few drives without the canes to provide a marker.
All 10 balls went dead bloody straight, just where I'd aimed, good flight and caressing the fence at the end of the range. I didn't know whether to laugh or cry.
I put the sticks down but I didn't really need them. The swing was working like a well oiled machine. I started hitting draw's, fade's, high shots and low ones just for fun. Everything worked.

What a waste of £6!!!

Biggest problem is I know damn well that when I next get back on the course it's all going to go to rat poo again.

Did you know that talking in 3rd person denotes a certain amount of mental strangeness
Remember driving isnt the be all of golf matey. get them bamboo sticks out again and get busy with the 100yds and in.

Brendy, 100 yards in is what's keeping my scores reasonable. If I can shoot 74 hitting 2 fairways just imagine what I could score if I hit 9 or more - the possibilities are endless........

Fair enough, do you always try to hit the same shot or try to fade when necessary, draw when needed etc?

Yes he hits it a long way, but on Friday there was only one that you could classify as a reasonable one,

Big slices or hooks left

His good scoring is down to his fantastic recovery and short play
Ok his putting is pretty mediocre.

His second shot is the strength of his game

if he can get the driving right, then he could get near scratch

Fragger ( The closest I get to scratch is when I get out of bed and ............. )

Swap you, I walked onto the 1st today and blasted 4, yes count them, 4 balls(brand new)off the tee, first three in the EXACT same bit of hedge. I dont usualy through clubs and this was more of a let my club go than a through. The 4th went into orbit and trust me I hit it HARD. Got to it only to find that they had planted about 6 or 8 trees dead in the center of the fairway... wtf.

By the time I got to the 2nd hole I was smoking again, one fing hole to wrech a weeks worth of giving up... and you dont know if to laugh or cry

Think my mate handed me a fag cos he was not looking forward to another 4 hrs with someone so hyped.. "you look angry Al".

umm, in fairness he does hit a 3 wood a MILE or even a hybird, I dont feel sorry for him!

It's easy down the range with canes down. I should know. I'm +1 at the range and playing +24 golf on the course. I guess the easiest way to align on the course is to use mower lines on the tee box or pick a reference point in front of the ball and parallel with your target line.

You've obviously hit a decent vein of form to be scoring as well as you are especially if you aren't hitting fairways so keep with it. Lets not forget Mickleson and Woods are hardly role models for straight driving and they seem to do ok
