Cotswolds or New Forest - country walks and pubs and tearooms, then more country/woodland walks and pubs and tearooms. Fresh autumn air, log fires and full bodied dark ale this time of year is most relaxing.

I'd highly recommend going to one of Rick Stein's restaurants in Padstow. There are a few but one is called Rick Stein's Cafe and that is the one we went to. Set menu, reasonable prices, wonderful food, lovely atmosphere. It's relaxed, not pompous. You will need to book but it is well worth it.

Good shout Cornwall, me and the mrs liked it, nice villages, great for arts and seascapes. Only thing we weren't that fussed for was The Eden Project, impressive as the biomes are from an engineering perspective if you've ever been to a real tropical rainforest or desert this doesn't come close unfortunately.

Great for coastal walks no matter what the weather, trips to Fowey and the Lizard worth while and if your a member some good NT places to visit. Padstiens not bad and the food at his gaff' s well worth it if you want to visit but there are loads of pubs doing nosh just as good.
