Might just be as simple as to remove all confusion with The Nottinghamshire Golf Club, which is nowhere near in the same league.

That has been the local folklore since Cotgrave changed their name to The Nottinghamshire - the Notts nose a little out of joint but they're big enough and old enough to cope.

Absolute beautiful course, probably the best I've played. I suppose the name change is to avoid confusion with The Nottinghamshire.

Never played there but chance to give a heads up to Mike Bradley who is the club pro.
many years ago I had a lesson of two with him when he was a Keighley and to this day I still go back to the basics he taught me to straighten out my game when things start to go pear shaped
