Not a cheap meal anymore!!!!!

Just another one of those things that used to be good, honest and affordable that has snuck up in price.

Forget about the cost of the cinema, what about popcorn. That became associated with the cinema in the great depression as it was all anyone can afford. Now they want a fortune for a tub or reheated polystyrene that they buy in huge garbage bags for pence.

As for fish and chips, now over a tenner for fish and chips twice in my local chippie but it is freshly cooked and there is plenty of it so that is not too bad. Compared to a Chinese or a curry it is a positive bargain.

Cheapest takeaway near me is pizza. Pappa Johns, Dominoes and Pizza hut have all opened new places recently and there is a massive price war. Most weekend at least one has any large pizza for £6.00 or 50% orders over £20.00 if you order online.

For the average worker, 20mins work covers that, i would say you could not call it expensive

Do you seriously think the average employee earns over 40 grand a year ??
I was a teach for over 25 yrs and it was only the last few years i got even close to that..
Is it Italy were you live ?
I'm packing me bags and coming out of retirement.

Was just thinking this. Some people are a bit out of touch. Perhaps it's average in Italy.

Anyway went for a chinese for myself last night. Salt and pepper chicken wings then king prawn curry and boiled rice was £13.10. Almost fell over...

Also, the 7 pounds would have to be after tax, if you had to earn enough to pay 7 pounds. So that's 40404 ish take home, for a 37 hour week, 52 weeks. Add in tax etc, and it's 56787 per year gross.

Average wage?

We've got 4 chippies in Oban, and they all charge about £6 for haddock and chips - decent size too.
We've also got the well known Seafood shack on the pier which does fresh lobster, langoustines, oysters etc pretty cheap (well a lot cheaper than the restaurants!).

Is anything cheap these days, Lidl aside?
I went to that seafood shack when I was in Oban last year.

Quality place and what fantastic prices

I don't care how many minutes I have to work to afford to pay it.
I still reckon that £7.00 for a lump of cod roe and chips is a rip off.

It'll all come down in price once article 50 is actioned and we can get our fishing waters back

He does have mafia in his sig: perhaps we should be more careful.
If he says thats the average then thats the average.

 nothing to see here, move along.........

£3.45 for a mini fish special at Daves place. Talking to a couple we met in Mauritius who live in Watford. He reckons he needs a mortgage to get Fish and chips.
