MP for a nearby constituency was in retail before politics... Family business was an old fashioned department store...

My own MP is a classic 'career politician'... I suspect he didn't know where Ruislip was until he was told he was being handed a 'job for life'...

The Posh Boys, Millibands, Clegg, Balls etc to my knowledge have never worked outside of politics.

Guys like Michael Hessaltine who have actually built up and ran a successful business before entering politics seem to have a much better idea on what the country needs. Trouble is that the 'professional politicians squeeze them out.

Perhaps we should look for a different type of leading politician like James Dyson, Puttenham, Branson or Sugar.

There are quite a few who have been in Industry or other Public Service at quite high levels. Plenty of pure Career Politicians though!
