Nippon N.S. 1150GH pro shafts

also had the ns 950's in the MP53, probably the worst shaft I've had, too light and unresponsive, lost 1 club distance from the norm.

I have the NS 950s in my Mizunos. I had never heard of Nippon shafts before I went to Mizuno National Fitting Centre and tried the DNA thingy. This recommended the Nippons. Pro there said these were very light and were borderline womens shaft (whatever that means). If I remember right my swing speed was low 70s. I have not been swinging well this year so I can't blame the equipment.

Mine was also national fitting centre, SS 87mph and my first and only fitting so trusted everything he said, he fitted ns950's! After 2 weeks of losing distance and feel I traded them in at a whopping loss!

i was fitted for these shafts at the mizuno nfc with jpx pro heads worst shafts i have ever used releasing the club to early hitting a lot of fat shots i have had to admit defeat and intend to sell them the whole mizuno nfc fitting was a very exspensive mistake you should try to demo the shafts on the course for commiting

Interesting that you have a much faster swing speed than me and we both were recommended the same shaft.

S-flex here
dispersion was the same as my 12 year old R-flex mizuno's as we tried them out together 2 weeks after fitting, go figure

Players with different swing speeds can use the same flex because each flex covers a range of players, both may be at oppsoite ends of the band for that flex, or because swing speed and tempo counterbalance one another. A slower swing with faster tempo can use the same flex as a faster swing with a slower tempo.

The Nippon Pros are good shafts, and their lighter shafts, for example the 950s, are good for players who need a smooth shaft with decent trajectory but who don't want a full weight shaft. The KBS 90 are similar.

I bought a set of McGregor VIPs with 1150s in S flex and they were too much for me. Probably at the high end of S though - the guy was quite solid. More than just a slightly heavier shaft than the 950/1050 imo. The 950s were way too light for me - all over the place. Really regret selling the VIP wedges though - they were great!

My first post on this forum !!!! I have 1150's (stiff) in my Mp68's. They are a very smooth shaft, but feels a little softer than the flex indicates. Definitely more suited to a good smooth tempo swing than an explosive one!!!!

Cheers everyone. I think I've made the right choice. They are stiff, when in reality what I probably need is something a bit softer than stiff, and the feedback suggests they are soft stiff. I like the idea of it feeling 'stronger' than it really is. We'll see if the results, long term, fit what I've found and heard.

Don't forget a shaft can play very different dependent on the temperatures and where they are stored when you don't use them. Try to avoid keeping them in the boot of the car in the depths of winter or they might feel like an X flex when you get them to the course.
