Went out for a round today only to find winter greens due to course maintainance in progress, so put my name in for Nov medal then went out off the medal tees. The winter greens were all set about 20yds in front of most greens and were no bigger than a parking space, ground was hard, so I decided to have a bit of fun. After each tee shot I had to use a different club for approach each time until all were used, on one hole I used putter from 80 feet, again from 15 feet and still got par. I adopted some methods learned on Links courses over the years and came in with a 76. Now one could say I had a distance advantage and some might say winter greens are easier, I wouldnt but I know some would, but still 76 off medal tees, playing very small winter greens and varying clubs and shots is a very interesting and pleasing round of golf to me. :D

Thanks Golfmad, considering I set off not really caring and just out for a bit of a mess about really, maybe thats the mental attitude to have? :D

Nice score and good lesson as chances are I wouldn't have bother playing on temporary greens.

Did you find the smaller target focussed you on your approach shots more so than aiming for the regular greens?

Probably did a little, but also the fact that I changed clubs for approach shots every hole and found myself taking short swings with a lot of clubs, the range was a little bit hit or miss but the accuracy of line was spot on. i think the biggest benefit was my couldnt care less attitude at the time :D
