Hi everyone just wanted to say great site im new to it. I hav just recently taken up golf properly after a few years off from playing(not that i played much). Anyway im yet to get a handicap but will probably end up with 24 or higher. I have bought callaway big bertha irons 3-sw and hav just ordered a ping zing iwi putter just wondered if anyone had any thoughts on the clubs i did get a good deal on the irons and putter and im definitely hitting my irons alot better than i used to although i am only 25 and used to hav poor clubs and paid no attention to technique or any of the basics. Anyway once again hello to everyone and thanks for reading.

Welcome along. Where are you from and where do you play. For my 2p's worth, get some lessons while you haven't got too many bad habits and practice the basics (grip, stance, alignment and posture) and work on any drills the pro gives you. Once you've got a basic repeating swing the golfing world is yours

Hi im from north wales i play at padeswood and buckley golf course. I hav been on youtube and the likes sortin my grip and stance and hav seen the benefits already i can hit the ball well but the longer the club the more chance i slice it. My short game is ok tho the putting needs alot of work.

A warm welcome to you.

I'd back up Homer, get lessons and not clubs just yet, a slice which is more noticeable with longer sticks was a sign of poor stance and swing technique for me - and it's taken the best part of 2 years to fix.

Hi matty i am considering lessons is a local driving range instructor a good idea or my club pro. I definitely think my stance plays a key role but i hav had surgery on my right hip 4 years ago and i tend to protect it as best as i can while trying to follow the basics which is probably a problem

Welcome along,

As has been said, get lessons and practice what you are shown. Do not go to the range and just hit balls, go to the range and practice what you have been show, alot. Practice with purpose!

Sort that slice asap and learn to believe in the swing your pro teaches you. It is oh so easy to get distracted with things on the net, stay on target.

The clubs will be great for you, and the putter will also. Good luck, have fun and look forward to your input on the forum.

Cheers everyone i do think om going to get lessons i was going to straight away but after reading about grips and swings and attempting these changes at the range and course i hav improved madsively but that could also be because the last time i played was 3 years ago and paid no aytention to anything but hitting it

Hi lads been for a round today got round in 94 from a par 70 i was happy with how i played and considering how i hit into the water on one hole and maybe mishit a coupe of chips off the green i hav to be reasonably pleased how i played. I just wondered if anyone could suggest what my handicap could possibly be with that figure ad uve yet to officially get one.
