Several years ago, handicap secs were able to adjust golfers handicaps on general play.
Then, Congu thought that system was too arbitrary so they removed their powers.
Then they could only cut people in exceptional circumstances.

Well it seems they have done an MPs trick and done a U-turn.
As from next year, Congu are introducing some new fangled software that will highlight golfers with h/caps which may be a touch too high shall we say and they will be able to act with new chopping sticks :)
Great news for those who want to get chopped I feel, bad news for El Bandito (AKA Region3:eek:)

Just kidding Gary:cool:

Bob, How do you see this working?

IMO, bandits/handicap protectors (called them what you will) will not submit cards for 'known play' consideration. They would only submit cards in competitions - the system takes these into account anyway!

The computor will only use what is input - ie competion scores.

Any thoughts anyone?

Just because CONGU said exceptional play previously do you think the H'cap Sec's couldn't make their own interpretation of exceptional play and adjust accordingly? Its wordplay, and a decent H'cap Sec will have a good handle on the member's h'caps he manages anyway.

I'm not really understanding this Bob. Are you saying that the new software calculated handicaps from qualifying competitions differently from the current software or are you saying that you can now put in supplementary cards more regularly..?

I don't know, could be. Maybe more qualifiers in future.
At least they've admitted there is a problem and are trying to do something about it

It's a good job I'm not a sensitive person.

No, wait.....

The day to day mechanics of it all will stay the same but the comp will flag if someone is in a rich vein of form and needs sorting further.
