New job.

Well, I've decided to stay where I am, ultimately I love my 9-5 job too much and that made the difference. I also had a nagging feeling I'd go a bit stale if working in the same factory mon-fri, I've done it before and after 4 or 5 years I got sick of looking at the same faults and working with the same idiots every day, ultimately job satisfaction won over working locally. My current job has so much variety, every day is just about guaranteed to be different and the good days far outweigh the bad ones.
Other positives, I've got a decent pay rise, they've ordered me a little Beamer and they are fast tracking the Scotland engineer to massively reduce my workload up there.
Glad to get it out of the way as it's been weighing on my mind for a while now, many sleepless nights were had in the process.

Good news matey and that it worked out without endless months of offer and counter offer (you could teach Southern Rail and the unions a thing) and that you've got a decent deal and are happy

Just to tie things up nicely, me and the other long serving engineer have both got promotions to the role of Senior Service Engineer, I'll have a couple of the other engineers to mentor and close the skills gap hopefully. New car arrives tomorrow as well 👍
The Scottish engineer started this week so all looking good.

Pb when I was reasonably fit about 10 years ago is 1 hour 42, I'd be happy with double that these days.
