After trialling one on the course a couple of times recently, I finally succumbed to purchasing a new Ping G15 last night. Some may think of them as "old man" clubs, maybe they are (maybe I'm getting closer to old man status myself), but it is sooo much better than my Cobra S-91. On course, my driving has been fantastic in comparison to the Cobra, much straighter, longer and the feel when I strike the ball is just sweet as can be. So went and purchased after work, and headed straight to the range for a spot of practice.

Hit it lovely, despite not having the right size tee, a little too high for my liking but still flew well. My best shot was a nice gentle left to right fade, no slicing or power fades at all. Was very happy until the time came to put it away. Standing there in the cold, trying to pull the new, rather tight head cover over the top, when......... the club slips, and in pure slow motion starts falling. I desperately tried to catch it, it was like a dream sequence, but all to no avail, the head smashed into the concrete, and being only 10 minutes old, now as a fantastically scratched up crown........ I am so bloody upset about it, you know over time it will get scuffed and scratched, but after 10 f!%&*@g mintutes, I could have cried.

Complain to Ping
The G range headcovers are rubbish
You need to be Geoff Capes to get them on.
I used a completely different headcover when I had a Ping driver. The i15 one is ok but the G series are a waste of space.

Agree the G series headcovers are a pain in the jacksie.
I swapped out to the i series ones and they are much better. At a loss to know why they don't do them for the G series. They couldn't even give me a sensible answer at Ping HQ!
Sorry to hear about your mishap. If it's any consolation my i15 driver has a few marks on it and I only got that in August. I look on them as "battle scars"....

Gutted for you, do you think it may buff out? can you see it at address?

Know the feeling well, all my clubs are mint and about two weeks ago I was at the range, thought I'd slap a few drivers.

Set myself up, nice smooth back swing only to hear an almight DOOONG where my head oft driver smashed straight into one of the steel girders.

Never a nice feeling. I once tried to pick up a driver I'd dropped he lazy way by putting my foot on the head so the shaft popped up. Great in theory but not so clever when you were weraing spiked shoes.
