Hi everyone, recently i had a fitting for Mizuno MP64's at AG in the trafford centre by Gareth, who I must say was superb and did not push me in to any purchase. i have used the irons on about 5-6 occasions and they are fantastic and surprisingly forgiving. Had to get use to difference in distance but think getting there. Was also surprised he recommended stiff shafts and they seem to be working.
Over a period of a couple months and before bought new irons my driving has become really poor. it used to be best part of my game and huge percentage of the time would be in play, with a nice draw and carry of about 210/220yards,as I'm not a long hitter. Well now i just hit low hook after low hook. It is having a massive bearing on my scores and my swing can't be any different and surely not to go from one extreme to the other. My ping G15 has a regular shaft and i don't know if that is cause but my G15 3 wood behaves really well.
As a result booked myself in with Gareth atAG on friday with view to getting new driver and possibly 3 wood and will try out various combos.
Has anyone been in a similar position and also any recommendations of clubs should try - thinking ping, cobra and TM.
Any help much appreciated. cheers

It could well be the change to stiff clubs - or at least the change tp the 64s - that is the root cause of your Driver woes.

I use quite stiff iron shafts but a Regular Driver one and concentrating on swinging with rhythm rather than the 'oomph' hen I had a stiffer shafted Driver. Left side is no more in play than previously!

The irons have probably encouraged a stronger attack, which has possibly had a detrimental effect on your Driver swing.

The future's Silver..... Callaway Xhot silver;)

Foxholer, that would be the obvious conclusion but the low hooks and i mean on virtually every drive started weeks before i bought the new irons. bizarre is the only way to describe it.

cancel the fitting book a lesson made the mistake last year thinking a new driver would fix my problem..... it didn't
however a 20 quid and 30 minute session solved the problem

Check your ball position, posture & grip, swings take months to degrade a poor setup can happen overnight and result in the same issues.

Sound advice. Get the problem sorted first and you can then enjoy trying clubs knowing you are going to hit them well and it makes the fitting better as the guy can find the right shaft without having to make too many compensations for flaws

Sorry, missed that about (in the huge paragraph).

This is what I'd recommend. Pro will spot it in a few seconds. Either that or it will magically disappear!

A new Driver is NOT the solution imo, - though AG might welll suggest it will help!
