Never again... Why would anyone want to tee off at 7am?

I play most mornings before work and tee off around 6.30. Sometimes you get ahead of the greenkeepers and cutting but if you time it right, it is perfect. Empty course, fresh conditions and a great way to start the day. And never more than 2 1/2 hours whichever course I play, Pyrford, Sunbury or Traditions.
 
i have played twice that early, the first i shot a scratch 74,i thot beauty there maybe something in this so i stuck my name down for 7am the next week ,i shot an 89
 
I do not drink and I am a morning person, usually out of bed by 6.30 if I do not fancy a lay in. Also I go to bed early most nights anyway.

I love the early tee offs, nice to see my name at or near the top of the leaderboard on the PC before I leave
 
We have a morning greedy on a Saturday that goes out about 7.45. I'm usually up about 6.00 for a shave, shower and then up the club for 7.00 for a few looseners. We're not the first out by a long chalk but I love it. Plenty of wildlife about, decent freshly cut greens, a bit of banter and home with the whole afternoon ahead of you. Lovely jubbly

I don't actually like playing mid-morning or later. I'm so use to morning times (drawn times from 8.00-10.00 in competitions too) that it seesm to throw me out completely. Too much time to think about my game, hit balls and worry about what might be.
 
I like to tee off at 06:30 or even earlier in the middle of summer. I start work at 05:50 when I'm on days so it's a normal time for me. I usually have an hours nap some time during the afternoon though.
 
I like an early round too. Means you can get out and back in before the course gets mobbed,into the clubhouse (not that my club have rebuilt theirs since the fire) for something to eat then you have the full day to yourself. If you're teeing off at say 11am then you dont have time to do much before or after it. During the months with lighter nights i like going out later on for similar reasons. Full day to yourself,quiet course,couple of pints after it.

7.37 every Saturday morning for me, It's the only time of day to play on Saturdays, we're round in 4 hours. If any later in the day it takes 4 - 5 an a half hours to get round......No thanks

Rouken Glen mate,some might know it as Deaconsbank. The club house was never anything special but they at least had a bar,a toastie machine and a pool table. They haven't refurbed since the fire a couple of years ago,everything now runs out of a Portakabin.

It has pros and cons. It means the yearly subs are only £300 but takes the social aspect right out it and means you dont even have a locker to keep your shoes in. They have a fridge in the Portakabin but theres never even any water in it. Think im going to just bite the bullet and join cos £300 will cover 2 months worth of summer golf based on what i played last year.
 
Look at the deals at Mearns Castle or for a little bit extra Fereneze in Barrhead is a good track.
 
There's a big competition on tomorrow at our course and the only tee time available when i checked on thursday was 7 30, i'm not one for sleeping in but even i said that's a bit early. 8 would be as early as i would ever hope to have to tee off at

Played Mearns Castle mate,would be useless during summer cos it was packed at the height of winter and being a 9 hole without alternate tees or greens just means theres a 3 group queue. Spoke to them about membership anyway,the guy says they're mobbed with members but still looking for more.


Fereneze was out my price range last time i looked but just checked there and its actually not too bad. Although the category in my immediate price range says 18-30 yoa but i thought they we're making categories of membership like that illegal?
 
We try and get three tee off times as early as possible. Had a regular 8 o'clock for a while, which seems to suit the older members of our group. I like to get out on the course as early as possible. Tee off by 7, home by 12. Just perfect to get indoors, showered and a spot of lunch, then stretch out on the sofa to catch up on the lost hours kip.

Our monthly medals usually tee off about 0630 in the Summer time, so that every body is off the course before the hottest part of the day. Also means the club can still make money off those willing to get out and tee off between 12-3pm in 50 degrees of heat.
 
I occasionally work nights and have regularly left work at 6am after my last shift and gone straight to the club for a round. It's a great time of the day to play, especially this time of year.

I do get some odd looks when I'm sat in the bar at 8.30am with a pint though, even though to me that is just before bedtime!
 
During midsummer I have played as early as 05:00am and as late as 9:30pm, the only problem being the sun directly in your eyes. My preference is now for late mornings - the visibility is much better, greens are dry and all the regular old farts who habitually start at 07:30 have all gone home for their tablets.
