Hi thinking seriously about becoming a member there ,but need some questions answered ? , Ive heard from my brother in law , whose friend has just left there because he could`nt get a game early Sunday mornings as it was very `clicky`? , not sure what the booking process is yet?, going to ring them tom

Played the course a few times but only as a visitor so can't comment on what the club side is like. I can comment on the course though. I commented on your earlier thread when you asked about courses in the area and to be honest, I'm very surprised you picked this course. Playing off your handicap, I think you would be much better off looking at one of the private courses in the area.

Stoneham would still be my first choice unless you are prepared to drive down to Hayling. Corhampton and Hockley would also both be a better choice than East Horton. Did you contact Stoneham to ask if they can do anything on the joining fee?

PM Haplesshacker - he is, or was, a Member there.
He doesn't get on here much these days but he's at Camberley tomorrow so I'll nudge him in your direction.....

Yeah i have contacted Stoneham and they had no movement on there membership fees :( the joining fee still at £2304 , which i am not prepared to pay, maybe Hockley but the other 2 are too far away . East horton is my best option for price & distance travelling to the course

I've been a member there twice now before moving. Yes it's a bit clicky to get a tee time on a Sunday morning.

As a member you get a 17 day advanced booking. Although times on the Greenwood course get booked very quickly.

They also like to get as many visitors through the course as they can.
During wet weather the course can get pretty boggy.

Reason I left was to play with friends who had just joined at Royal Winchester. Also they where doing alot more work on the Parkland course then the Greenwood which is the main course. This annoyed me and was the final straw :D

Not been a member but East Horton is 5 mins from my work. I was a member at South Winch, would recommend anywhere BUT East Horton! Great for the £15 twighlight visitor who wants to hack around with mates, not a place I could play week in week out. Royal, Stoneham, Hockley or South Winchester would be my shortlist

I'm a member at Hockley golfsaint and would definitely recommend it. A great all year round course and a good test, although everything seems to be a test to me! At Hockley, there is no booking system as you turn up and play. Don't know how busy it gets at weekends as I work shifts and am a 5 day member,

I joined in April this year and there was no going fee. It is around £1000 for 7 day membership but they have an age related plan, the younger, you are, the cheaper it is.

Royal Winchester is the same sort of yearly fee, but a joinging fee of a years membership. Which can be paid on 5 years if you choose to.

Also only time it's been closed is when it's snowed. Apart from that open all the time.

Not played Hockley yet, but same applies no tee booking apart from Fridays as a trial this year. Although in the winter tees on a weekend your whole group needs to be in the pro shop to book a time.
This is to stop people booking a time and not showing up.

Hockley can be reasonably busy at weekends but there are lots of very accomodating rollups that are always happy for people to join in with so never an issue getting a game there
