Last comp of the year today and yet another .1 back.

After last year when I got my handicap down from 23 to 13 the aim was to push for single figures this year and it's been nothing short of a disaster.

I worked hard through last winter with my original pro but by the time the new season came my swing was an absolute mess and my confidence was at an all time low and no sign of any improvement. If anything I was getting worse.

Out of about 12 comps I played in I shot under my handicap just once and that was completely out of the blue. I'd actually gone up to playing off 14 by then and struggling to keep my scores under 100 and shot an 81 out of nowhere and got cut to something like 11.7. Then a succession of .1's has now got me back to 12.6.

So started playing off 13, finished playing off 13. :( At least I won a trophy for the round where I did connect it up.

So work has already started on next season with a new pro. There are already signs that my game is turning around. Although I'm not shooting near my handicap yet at least I'm keeping my scores consistently under 90 now.

It's been a very frustrating year. Kind of glad it's over so I can put it behind me and focus on next year.

How's everyone else's year gone? Season over yet ? Did you achieve your goals for the year ?

Westy, going from 23 to 13 is a decent jump, maybe this year aiming for single figures was a step to far.

At least you have maintained the handicap so are at the correct level for where your game is now. Maybe next year the cuts will come

I have 1 more medal and still after my 1st cut. New irons/wedges/putter in the bag and leaving driver at home for it. Just going to play safe and sensible and hopefully shoot a low 90's but what will be will be :)

Its been my 1st year of golf (joined club in May I think) and although not got the h/c I set myself my game has come on a lot and course management has really improved over the last 6 months. Next year is my season to get below 20 I reckon :)

At the end of last season I was probably playing to a 10-11 hcp but my official handicap hadn't quite caught up yet. So I think single figures was within my reach.

I hadn't broken 80 yet but was consistently shooting 80-82. I did manage to hook up a couple of sub 80 rounds this year. A 78,77 and a 76 somehow. So I know the game is there lurking under all this garbage I seem to play most of the time.

I think having such a good year last year and the complete opposite this year made it even more frustrating than it normally would be.

I think the toughest thing has been the lack of any consistency in my scoring. I could go from shooting an 83 one day nailing every shot to shooting a 97 the very next day and spraying it all over the place.

Started the season at 11.6 and now 12.7 so not ideal but I've won a stableford, won at St Pierre and at the Forest of Arden and hit the ball better than last year so I feel as though I've improved even if the handicap doesn't reflect it. There is work to be done over the winter months but I've enjoyed my golf a lot more this year and tried not to get too hung up on the technique and more the results

Hit single figures for most of the year. Hanging in there at 9.4. Sf is not as easy as it may appear. Pressure mounts as you approach sf, and it is then hard to maintain if you want it too much.

I didn't set myself a lot this my first full season playing. I got my first handicap of 26 and went up 0.1. Played pretty poor most of the season and seemed to get worse, then about a couple of months ago something clicked. The driver started going long and straight, then my irons packed in. Then over the last month everything has started to work together. Typical just as the season is ending!! So I didn't get the 24 hcp I had set myself but I have averaged playing once a week and enjoyed playing the game which is the most important. Bring on next season!

started at 5.5. and finished at 5.5 - did manage to get down to 4.7 during season but had a torrid June/July during which is just seemed like constant 0.1s.

Hopefully next season can try push down to 4.

Set myself a target of 12 for this season, was off 15.6 at the start... Managed to get to 12.1 by the time the season finished a few weeks ago so pretty happy with my progress. 21 - 12 in 2 season. Next year I have to aim for single figures. I reakon I got the game for it but need to keep swinging through the winter to stand a chance. Could do with a couple of days off work though to get out. Not hit a ball since the 17th October and wont have a chance till at least next sunday...... Clubs are still drying out in the shed !!!!
