Hi All,

Just a quick post to say what a fantastic weekends golf I had I had with my first summer champs. There was a real feel of occasion as I stood on the tee and the starter announced my name as if I were Tiger Woods. My aim though more a dream this year was so make the cut for day two. I played out of my mind for 16 holes but rather spoiled an otherwise perfect performance with two bad holes, however I still made the cut and I drove home that afternoon with a beaming smile!! I really was please and very proud of myself.

It was great fun to watch Neal20 come off the last and yabber at one another about how we did and then call Fundy for the same thing. Neal16 is what he should be called now really... well done brother!

Day two was the same story for me but it really did not matter. I again played out of my mind with runs of pars and bogies sadly an 8 and a 9(chipped into the same pond twice) meant that I was not a front runner but on both days I had wonderful playing partners with great attitudes. I played some great shots and was very happy with 32 of the 36 holes I played.

Thank you very much AVGC you did a great job and I am already looking forward to next year.

Glad you enjoyed the club champs AL :)

Was a mixed experience for me, met a few members Ive not played with before which is always good. As for the golf, played pretty good day 1 until I make a ridiculous double at 16 from the middle of the fairway then 3 jabbed 17 from nowhere, turned a low/mid 70s round into a disappointing 79.

Never got going Sunday and found the pace of play a killer (amazing the amount of people who normally dont even line up suddenly take over a minute for their pre shot routine lol). Managed to turn birdie into bogey at the first and never ever really got it going after that.

Well done m8.

Got our club champs this weekend. Sat and Sun. No cut to make for us :D

They stick us out in handicap order on Sat, lowest out first. Then score order on Sun. Highest first.

I'm looking forward to it, but I know I'm not playing well enough right now to contend. Just looking for a good showing.

First time for me too and think it's the end of one era of my short golf career and start of another.

Two nett 71s and yet another cut and a prize that is effectively £30 at American Golf.

Haven't managed to steer a ball around a course that well before, even if my putting was a little off.

Had a great time. Sorry I was a little incoherent after the 18th on day one, taking 10 minutes deciding on a drop was a new and hopefully never repeated experience.
Was great to see how pleased you were - especially as you had to contend with a player pulling out after only completing one hole!

Watching the playoff was also unreal. Seeing the action those guys get on the ball from greenside was pretty special.

Matt said it was the most nervous he's ever been thanks to the crowd of 40-50 following it around.

Hope to make the cut next year for the Gross rather than Nett, but we'll see.

Thanks to yourself and obviously Fundy for making the last 12 months in golf something I never expected.
