my clubs greens

Hovis is that pictures of a cricket pitch ? if our greens got that bad the green keeper would get lynched. We got an email yesterday explaining how fast the greens were on the stimp meter and what the grass composition is ,an interesting read to be honest.

in fairness i think the green keepers hands are tied. the water is on a meter the club is too tight to fork out the water bill. they can only work with what they have. the tee boxes are the same too.

Surely that is false economy tho , the money they are saving on water they will loose on green fees & membership..

Gipsy Rose Fragger can forsee a club without any members left if they dont pull their fingers out

Diabolical greens, everyone knows that you dont aerate and then leave them to dry out, its a scandal

Fragger

do you know if plenty of other members are unhappy?

tbh i expect they are

id get them together & try & arrange to put a mass members complaint in by letter,

that really isnt acceptable especially if your members paying a decent amount for your membership

my old local pitch & put had better greens than that

That really isnt acceptable & can see why you want out

did i read right ,from other thread
theyre not watering the greens because theyre on a meter?

your membership fees should be covering for that & im sure they will have factored it in,but not providing the service

if theyre on a meter
they should be sinking their own boreholes & using that for watering
pumping it into storage tanks & ponds (expensive to set up) but will be free water ,surely

Our greens are like corrugated iron and Balckpool beach where they are doing this remedial work. To be honest I don't think the greenkeeper is up to it but the club seem reluctant to do anything about it and prefer to get STRI in at the drop of a hat to tell them what to do and it must be costing a fortune. If the fees go up by much next year I'm off

We had a few problems with our greens a few years ago and after using Alister Beggs from STRI,the club and our greenkeeper listened done what was recommended and now our greens are superb and have been all season.

Providing your club/greenkeeper does exactly that in 12-18 months you'll see a massive difference in your greens.

correct. that come straight from the marshalls mouth

Hopefully that will be the case. Last week was just one of a series of treatments and I think the greeny has to listen or he'll be in trouble. He really has no excuses now the STRI are involved. As Homer says, a hike in fees next year and there will be a few moving on to pastures new. There are a lot of discontent members around at the moment questioning whether the greenskeeper is up to it so time is ticking for him.

You can't fool me.... That's a cricket pitch/wicket isn't it

How can a club refuse to turn the sprinklers on because they're on a meter!!! Surely this is factored in with your yearly fee!!

What are they spending money on at your place.

That is truely disgraceful. No wonder you want to out!!!

i assume its because seedy mill falls under 'the club company' they have about 10 clubs all with fitness centre's. i think this is their main income and thats where they focus their attention. i dont think the club is run with golfers in mind, just profit. however, the warwickshire is part of ''the club company'' that place is tops. the greens are great.

I see they are offering time travel this xmas, or maybe they are so tight they are still selling the left overs.

yeah i did see that ;)

probably cant afford to update website too if they cant afford to water the green... after spending all that £

they gotta try to turn a profit somehow

;)

played seedy mill only last month, didn't think the greens were that bad, not brilliant by any strectch of the imagination, but I don't recall them looking as bad as the photo's. don't think I'll be rushing back either after seeing those.

You can't scrimp and save on the clubs main asset like that.

If there are no playable greens then there are no happy members and the club will loose a lot over what would be a small water bill in the big scheme of things.

HOVIS

I have just been to your clubs site, filled in my details and sent them a comment and how diabolical the greens and tee boxes are. I added that I was looking at bringing a large society, but once i had heard how poor your greens and tee boxes are I will avoid at all costs. I also added that I will be telling everyone I know to avoid the club unless they begin to remedy the condition of the courses main assets.

Maybe you should just report them to trading standards and let them visit the club and pass comment.

I have seen better mini-golf greens in lanzarote, and they are over 20 years old. and still not as bare as those
