Company assets are not just things to be Traded, they are the things necessary for the organisation to function and have a positive economic value. People are not found on the balance sheet as an asset, but as stated previously can be the companies greatest asset.
Your getting confused with slavery. In business can you name a successful company with no people?

My bad seems to imply it's worse that mistake or error.
If there's one American expression i wish could be adopted it would be cell phone. It's easier to say than mobile phone and it describes exactly the system that it employs.
