I have never heard this saying up until 4 months ago and now it is all I hear youngsters say. Is this a saying from a film or song. I know what context it is used in just don't know where it came from

Not so sure it is from the USA. I have not heard it used there.

Whatever, it is a silly saying. Whats wrong with "My Mistake"

The Urban dictionary always has the answers......

term currently used when a mistake is made on your part. Allegedly originating from an unamed African Basketball Player in the 1980's (who spoke very poor english)who said it after missing a free throw. Several Sportscasters heard the phrase and used it as a joke until it became a part of popular culture.

Deffo from the states buddy. Heard it a lot on an Oregon trip 15 years ago, its on just about every US kids prog as well.

Don't mind 'gaming' or trunk, sidewalk, John, etc in fact many Americanisms or word changes we use here emanate from the states i.e remember the nice lady in personnel? She's now a Business Human Resource Manager.
