Played at my home club today with my usual partner Alex.

Tee'd off on the 1st which is a short par 4, hit a peach of a drive which we knew was on the green. When we got closer it was apparent that I had a 6ft putt for eagle, I was absolutely bricking it, I took a while to get composed and then made the putt!

Today is surely the greatest day of my golfing life so far and I am so, so happy.

To follow on I then had a couple of awful holes and my driving was poor for the rest of the round with the dreaded slice coming back. I know why and will be hitting the range to sort it.

Im starting to get a lot of pars and a few birdie putts so I am happy with my golf.

medway, did you ram it home in the middle of the cup with a beautiful smooth stroke or did you jab at it nervously and see it creep in the side door after what seemed like 30 seconds watching it?

BM, I played it really positively as Alex is always saying I am a bottler with the putter so I played it firm to take out the slight right to left.

Just so pleased, I know some may say it is a "poor mans" eagle as it is only a 270 par 4 but for me it was perfect.

I think half the reason my driving went to pot after that was because I was so elated.

Putted well today in difficult conditions and played a couple of nice bunker shots.

Can't wait to get out again!

Top man - what a great feeling it is

Years ago at Wimbledon Common I use to be able to drive the 3rd, 5th and 9th regularly (especially in the Summer) so often had eagle putts. Nothing better than hitting a green and knowing that a simple 2 putt gives you a birdie.

Medway - hope it is the first of many

Nothing wrong with a poor mans eagle. My only one was on a similar length par 4. Sadly not seen one since. You still have to hot the green and sink the putt.

Congratulations.

Steady on! Any shorter and I'd call that a par....

Ony kidding......nice one.

The 1st at Mosely (B'ham) is driveable, even I managed it on a few occasions. One of our scratch team holed his tee shot for an albatross....went on to par the next then birdie 3 in a row.....6 under after 9.

What a way to start the round. You'll be expecting it every time now!!

Played 11 holes George as follows, eagle, bogey, double, double, bogey, par, par, par, bogey, par, bogey.

Was really pleased with this performance of +6 for the 11 to be honest as it was a little wet and windy. I was a demon with the putter which really helped.

Brilliant work Jon. :) :) You will never forget your 1st eagle - lock it away in your memory banks. Every time you play that hole you will have a positive memory. What a start to every future round there.

I've never had an eagle on a par 4. :)(1st lucky bounce off a mound at the side of the green, 2nd a lucky chip in) and 1 on a par 3 and didn't see it drop - gutted.

btw I'm getting a little worried about you guys at the Kent meet. Here's you shooting eagles and 6 over on 11 holes but claiming a 22 h/cap, and MVP liking the looks of forged blades so he can shape the ball and admitting to shooting 38-43 for 9 holes, hitting his 3 iron really well (can't remember the last time my 3 iron saw the light of day,)was playing to 19 but doesn't put cards in and reckons that he will be about 22 :D :D

Oh well. I'm sure that it will be a great afternoon and am looking forward to it.
