My M5 Connect is less than a year old but it has been returned twice with a noisy transmission. It is making noises again and it will have to go back again. I wonder if this is a common problem with this relatively new model because my wife’s S1 is going strong after 4 years without any problems.

Might be the shaft is unaligned or even bent a little, if you can turn it upside down and run it, check to see if the wheels are wobbling, most be was making a noise similar to you describe, a hammer done the job

Thanks for responding. I won’t resort to violence yet because it’s still under warranty but I just wondered if it is a common problem. It has already been back and the claim they fitted a new gearbox and axle.
