Most Underrated/Best Value Course you've played

Wrotham Heath in Kent (I had never heard of it until I was invited a few weeks ago) is a great golf course. Not long, but a tight and testing heathland style course. Only £30 for a visitors green fee, and a very welcoming professional too.

Us Kent courses have a deal that means Mon to Fri it's £15 and worth every penny!

this is one of those courses that changes dramatically over the years depending on the money and greenstaff at the time. 30 years ago it had some of the best greens in Kent.

good to here it's playing well again - just round the corner but it's been off my radar since the last time when it was in terrible condition all round.

Plenty of hills and tee shots over ravines, as a course it certainly get the nerves going when you've only just started playing the game.

The big ravine is a joke and there is no point to it.... Silly course and yes I didn't clear it from wither tee......

Co Cavan. 15 euro and even included a cup of coffee and scone on arrival. I found to to be a very enjoyable course with some very nice feature holes.

Close second is Buncrana NW. Tuesday open 20 euro and includes a meal. I always opt for the fry which includes the nicest white pudding I've ever eaten. Played today with Smange and always enjoy it no matter how bad I'm playing.

I have heard this and that the food van half way round is the best....When was the last time you played it?

About a year ago. They have invested quite a few quid in it, with some new greens. Rumour has it that numerous private buyers have tried to purchase it , but Warrington borough council won't sell.
The food van is quality.... You would love it !!!!

Deffo.... The only negative is how busy it gets... A few years back took me 5 hours to get around in a 2 ball!!!! And before you say, it was the number of players, not me zig zagging across fairways (that was the week after ;) ;)

Bob, it's called North West Golf Club, that's all, no Buncrana in the name and yep it's a great deal on a Tuesday.

Buncrana golf club is the 9 hole course down the road where you need to wear your crash helmet.

My vote, although its not underrated is Portsalon, a top course that can be played in an open for a measly €15

Let me know when you are free and we can pay a visit

Well at least I got to the right club even if I don't know the correct name and was late (again) ;P

£40/50/60 for a round of golf and thats value for money ???

Entering opens is the way forward. I have just applied for 5 this year. Good courses every one of them. Total green fees £85.

Dunno how much opens are in England but up here you are between £10 -20 a round and they are generally open to high handicappers and almost always on a Saturday.

The thread asked for best value, and at £55 Formby is a steal. Normally £140 of a weekend in the summer. It's on a par with Turnberry, Carnoustie, Hillside and Royal Aberdeen.

If you could play Augusta for £150 would that not be value also?

It doesn't have to be £15 to be the best value.

What have I told you about taking phone numbers from phone boxes. :D

I played both Minchinhampton new courses for £44 including a bacon roll beforehand and lunch. An absolute bargain, and the courses were top notch. Was part of a society deal though.

I'll throw my course into the mix (Thetford GC), for the visitors cost, it is amazing. One of the best courses in the region, rated as a "hidden gem" by GM themselves and in great nick.

Kingsbarns such an underrted course and such good value at nowt, mate's a caddy so got on for nowt:whoo:
It looked nice from the Clubhouse, but I think that will be the closest I ever get to play it. We were allowed in wearing jeans, but probably mistook us for rich Americans.

Sure you are not sneaking on when it is closed over the winter Steve ?;)
