Most shocking thing you have found out about your ancestors

Most shocking for me was that my great great grandfather was in jail for robbery.

Had a relative on my dads side up in the Old Bailey in the 1820's for stealing according to the stuff my cousin had dug up. She's got big into geneology(?) and gone back a fair way so far and was going through it (including some embarrassing baby photos of me) when we were up there a few months back. She reckons she may get back as far as the 1760's

my mum told me that she researched our family tree and it went back a long way to ireland on her side .she couldnt get as far back on dads side but apparantly a distant royal is somewhere in the lineage.
