Most Bizarre course you've played

Proper "hard hat " golf, like the way you have to drive/tee off over other tee boxes and greens . the 1st 4 holes would like playing in the middle of a driving range with all the balls flying at you ;)

Las Ramblas has the most insane hole I've ever played. Par 5, dangerous tee shot, blind 2nd shot where you either lay-up close to first drop-off in order to go for the green in 3, or iron into middle island and then go to the green. There are huge drop offs either side of the island, and it's set lower down than the green. It's an absolutely crazy hole, like something out of a fantasy course on Tiger Woods on the Xbox.

one of my favourite holes. once i was long enough from the tee and reached the green with a 2-iron. 3-putted for par :(

One Boat GC on the Ascension Islands. Some say the worse course in the world.
Having paid your green fee in an honesty box and you survive playing on sand, lava and oil, you retire to the lounge which also has an honesty box behind the self service bar.

I played here for a year and became so accurate. You have to hit greens that are about 15 yards square, only problem was you never played a driver or a long iron.

Ramsey in Cambridgeshire has some quirky holes especially the 18th but my nomination is Shishkine on the isle of Arran. There's a par 3 where you have to aim your tee shot at a cliff, if you aim at the green the wind will take your ball about 100 yards left of it. Then there's a ridiculous par 3 where you can't see the green, let alone the pin. You wait for a railway signal to tell you the green is clear then you tee off over a hill and hope you've got the line and length vaguely correct. I was told that many of the lady members use a putter to set the ball off down the adjacent footpath leaving themselves a chip onto the green. Bonkers hole which is only missing a windmill.

Shiskine is quality!

How often do you get to play a Par 3 like this.....

Never played it, but the Aquarius Golf Club is very strange as the course is laid out around and on top of an underground reservoir www.aquariusgolfclub.co.uk

Has got to be stocksbridge golf course near Sheffield. If anyone knows stocksbridge its pretty steep valley, the fact they managed to fit 18 holes is impressive. You almost feel like you need a sherper for some of the climbs. A few crossing holes are also throw in for good measure.

Another one springs to mind is heaton moor i think in manchester. Its in the middle of a load of housing and a number of holes they they have a rule where you aren't allowed to tee off with any woods. Very strange.

Played Alhurin when it must have just opened about 16 years ago and hated it, tighter than 2 coats of paint in parts, considering Seve was the designer i think it was a bit unfair as he was one for spraying it about.

Aah Alhaurin, brings back bad memories does that course. It took us almost 2 hours to get there from by Santana golf course because on that side of the mountain they we completely remaking the road. We followed the diversion signs but it took us through countless farm yards, mountain tracks and construction sites. We were over half an hour late for our tee time but luckily the course was almost empty.

The first hole is in a sort of valley and the fairway was flooded following overnight rain. The next few holes all seemed to have blind shots with narrow fairways and lots of jungle. The back 9 opens up a bit but there were also a couple of very short par 3's, not much over 100 yards. Also seem to remember that the on course toilets seem to get in the way on one hole they were that close.

There is also a dogleg right hole on the back 9 with a deep quarry further right. One of the lads tried to go over the edge of the dogleg but carved it into the middle of the quarry never to be seen again (or so we thought). As we got down the fairway, there was his ball bang in the middle and about 100 yards left of where we last saw it heading. Another of life's golfing mysteries.

I remember the taxi driver laughing his head and pointing to the top of the mountain when we told him we were going there, that was some drive up there , they had no buggies and no changing rooms bar a Portakabin and the temperature difference was something else.

Braemar Golf course. Highest in Scotland with no bunkers as the wind kept blowing it out.
2nd hole has the river running along the right, but after a flat tee shot you then have to go up about 60 feet to a raised green with the 3rd tee just behind it.
So blowy and the quirkiest course I have ever played. Good fun though.

Don't remember the name of the course as I played there once in 1990, but it was in Greece and it was bang next door to Athens airport. The noise was something else, however, right in the middle of the course there is a Catholic church. We played on a Sunday morning ans at one point we had to wait for 15 mins on a tee box whilst the priest and the congregation walked past. The priest was swinging his smoking ball thing about while the rest followed in complete oblivion to us golfers. I still have the photo's somewhere.

I've always wanted to play a course inside a Horse race track. May have to take a trip to Salisbury and South Wilts to tick that box!
Royal Durban in South Africa is enclosed within Greyville Racecourse. Hosted a few European Tour events there. Played it loads and quite enjoy it.
