For me it is Gosport and Stokes Bay. Plays along the Solent so has a slight links ambience but also feels like you're playing golf inside a prison due to the MOD buildings and high wire fencing that that border much of it!

Despite its bizareness and quirkiness its still one of the courses that i enjoy playing.

Monte Mayor. Mad course. I loved it though.

Shame it has closed. :(

Newmarket has some quirks, on a few holes you have cross over the gallops to get to the tee and then hit back across them.

West Essex has a hole where you have to drive over the previous green for your next tee shot.

Las Ramblas has the most insane hole I've ever played. Par 5, dangerous tee shot, blind 2nd shot where you either lay-up close to first drop-off in order to go for the green in 3, or iron into middle island and then go to the green. There are huge drop offs either side of the island, and it's set lower down than the green. It's an absolutely crazy hole, like something out of a fantasy course on Tiger Woods on the Xbox.

I've always wanted to play a course inside a Horse race track. May have to take a trip to Salisbury and South Wilts to tick that box!

Elemore near sunderland it's a half decent lay out but a council estate on the outskirts of it. They give is some hammer once seen a burnt out car on a fairway before, a lad on a scrambler doing donuts on the greens and also a family having a BBQ on the side of the green while the kids play in the bunkers

You could just as easily be describing Stockwood Park in Luton.

Agree it's an insane hole. Played it slightly differently, smashed driver and ended up just in the rough at end of fairway, didn't quite catch my 7 iron and was two foot short of green . Hacked it out and made par

I decided to lay-up close to first edge, rescued it on to 8ft for 3, missed the putt and walked away with a par. We had a few shocking scores in our group though, the 2 ladies really struggled, think there may have been a double figure score in there from one of them. Hard hole, if you get that 2nd shot wrong, you're knackered.

Silverdale in Carnforth is a bit odd (but very enjoyable)

The front 9 is pretty standard fare, but the back 9 is like playing through a quarry. Some of your approach shots are to elevated greens sometimes over 50 foot high

Think the 18th is a par 3 to a green about 100 foot below the tee box, through the trees.

Had my first hole in one at Oadby golf course, half the course that was inside Leicester race track, sadly I think the course has now been closed down. Also hit a few out of bounds onto the track lol

Shishkine on Arran its only 12 holes with cracking views and blind shots galore. Great we flag system with underground ropes to tell you when the green is clear.

Boat of Garten probably for me, not too many crazy places.

Great fun course, wouldn't fancy walking it every week right enough!!

Oldham is a bit odd, After 8 holes on the flat, the 9th is a steep uphill par 4, then the next 7 holes crisscross the hill with mostly blind tee shots, including 2 blind par 3s, Then the 17th is steeply down hill, a lot of people I know hate to play there.

Nefyn for me,only played it once .The penisular stretch is great to look at but on a sunny summer day you are playing a hole or two with locals marching next to you on the path to the beach!
Nice to play once .
Seascale also a little odd playing out towards the nuclear power station, dominates the scenery.

I was just about to reply with Seascale
not a bad course but it's certainly got a strange feel about it with Sellafield as the backdrop. The town is a bit eerie too.

Another vote for MM from me as well.

Almost had a hole in one on one of the par 3's on the front 9. About 175 yards to a raised green over a valley and the ball rolled towards the hole and disappeared but when we got there it was hidden behind the pin. :(

Probably Church Stretton Golf Club in Shropshire. It starts with three par-3's, all steeply uphill, then wanders around the top of a hill and finishes with a steeply downhill par-3. I have seen it described in a golf course guide as where golf meets fell walking. Also rather bizarre was Ludlow Golf Course before it was re-designed. It's inside Ludlow Race course, and obstacles include jump fences. Once upon a time you had to cross several rather busy roads. You had to wait for a gap in the traffic before you could tee off. It has been altered to avoid this scenario though!
