More wasting of money

Thought exactly the same when I saw it earlier this morning. Terrible is an understatement for what has happened to Maddie. But there comes a time when unfortunately a line has to be drawn under it.

But it was ok to spend more on Hillsborough, or bloody Sunday. Not belittling any events, but if it was your kid, or your familly involved in any of these events, you would want resolution, at any cost. Who is to decide how much spend is enough? Tough job, and not one I would fancy.

Get what your saying but with all the cuts the police force are having to take surely there is a better way to be spending this money? 11 years later and many millions is way past enough sadly

If it was my daughter that had disappeared, (presuming of course I’d had nothing to do with it) I’d want the investigation to go on as long as possible. However if they’ve found nothing by now, what’s gonna change

Got no problems with money being spent searching for missing children but there has to be a time when it’s no longer public money or police time

If the family want to continue searching and no one can blame them then they imo should be funding it and find their own sources now - our police force is stretched enough and funds are already at a limit.

I’ve given up reading all the stats about this case. As much as it’s heart breaking. Enough is enough re public funding imo.

How much does does the average missing person get (funding)?

I really feel for the twins, what sort of life must they have had?

I never understood why they weren't charged with child neglect or at least a serious discussion had on how they left their children unattended. To have left the patio door unlocked and be 50 yards away just doesn't seem right to me.

Indeed.

And in addition, if Maddie is still alive, what kind of life has she had and what possible horrors has she been subjected to? Even if they found her alive I dread to think what kind of psychological state she would be in.

However I am with some others - clear case of neglect for me on the part of the McCann's.

I think the harsh reality is. It woukd be better if a tragic and swift end had occurred for her. 10 years of being subjected to whatever you can imagine is far worse imo.

I don't know what really happened just like everyone else but I can't see how there can be any evidence that hasn't been collated, and analysed, that will ever now come to light bar the guilty person/s coming forward and owning up , so I'd stop funding now but leave the case open.

This indeed. What I cannot get my head around is this. For the funding to continue, there must be some " leads". What ever the leads. Why are the public not being informed of whatever the leads or reasons are. If the investigation has ground to a halt, then so should public funding.
At some point the funding will stop, and some people will be asking " awkward" questions as to why it has been funded for so long.
For me there are loads of issues behind there parents actions or inactions from that terrible night.
hope this is a thread that can be discussed without Fragger locking it 👍

Resources are finite. Money going here is money not being available for live cases.

The police yesterday announced they were suspending the investigation into the missing RAF airman, Corrie McKeague, 2 years after he disappeared. All leads have been investigated and a brick wall has been hit. The senior officer had to front up and say the case is open and we can do no more.

I'm not sure how the McCann investigation is still happening after 11 years when the reality is nothing new can have come through for quite some time. How is it different to Corrie McKeague? Time to put it on ice, re-open if new information comes through.

because they are white middle class

if they had been from a council estate they would have been hauled in front of a judge

I fully believe their social standing has stopped them being charged with child neglect - if it was a family with a different situation I feel the money would have stopped a long time ago and charges would have been brought against the parents and maybe even having other children taken away from them until they showed they could look after children

I have every sympathy for their loss, however after 11 years I doubt that even if she was alive (and I doubt she is) would she even be recognised?
I think enough water has flown under the bridge, and any chance or material evidence is long gone.
Perhaps if she hadn’t been that cutesy little girl it would have stopped ages ok, and it should have.

Spot on - exactly this.

If this was anyone of us on here's kids, no way would this have played out the same way.

And they parents still rake in a fortune from this tragic event
