More greed from big business

Greedy businesses are made up of greedy people. Greed is the problem here, not the people themselves. People who can't control their greed....the need to have more and more, insatiable desire for things. We all have part of this. I laugh when people in my work critisize politicians for cheating expenses when these same people cheat their flexi-time, lie about how sick they are to get off work, claim travel expenses for doing overtime when they come in for overtime, "but sure...it's ok for me, cuz i'm on the bottom" (they say), but if they weren't they'd still do it, because then, all their colleagues would be doing it and they'd say "sure if they're doing it, it's ok for me too" That's what i've found in life, people's morality changes when they get into the same positions. The problem with society is the problem with humans...we all have a tendency to lie and look after number one and we invent reasons to make it ok. lol. think about it........

VAT was originally introduced to curb spending and was levied on luxury items.

I don't think so. VAT was introduced to replace Purchase Tax. During the 1970s there was an increased rate of VAT for luxury items.
