"Colin Montgomerie sank five birdies in the last seven holes to qualify for the 2010 Open at St Andrews with a course-record equalling 62 at Sunningdale New" BBC Sport

Considering his personal issues, that is one heck of a score

I take it the only way for the likes of Darren Clake to get in now is by winning an event in the run up?

Back to Monty, he still has it for a round or 2 i guess. I always wonder how hard the courses are set-up for these qualifiers.

8 order of merits, the guy is and always will be a quality player of the game. In fact a legend of British golf and that isn't up for debate.

Great to see another legend of the game at the Open.

Shows you that he still has the fire in the sizeable belly.

I am convinced he will be a superb Ryder Cup Captain.
