As it stands, I can't imagine Faldo is going to give Monty a captains pick. Its just too much of a risk regardless of his amazing record and past performances.
It does depend on who else has missed out, but I'd be pretty amazed if he didn't get a pick.

Of course Monty's right, he knows it, we know it but moaning about it ain't gonna change a thing.

As for Monty being past it - not quite. In my opinion he needs to see a mind guru to get him refocused when playing. All too often does a missed putt suddenly becomes a catalyst for self destruction in Monty Land.

From comments I've heard this season he seems to be worrying more about what others are shooting instead of his own score playing the course?

Every tournament has wild cards.....they/the sponsors/the tv companies can invite whoever they see fit. It's a pity for Monty but what can you do? Most tournaments (general sport) take a set number of players then invite on all kinds of different grounds...bringing interest to large (new) audiences in far off lands seems wise to me...

i like the fact monty will answer all questions.
At least you get a honest answer even if it does just look like whinging. There is no politically correct or bull answer so as not to make himself look better, then when the cameras are off him he starts moaning, what you see is what you get.

I also hope he has at least 1 more great year, I really like to watch the way he swings the club especially the way he does his back swing, to me at any rate it looks the most natural and in-balance swing i have seen.

It’s a shame, I wish these sporting heroes, and idols would know when to hang up their boot/sticks gracefully. People like Monty deserve to go out on a high but the masters would have been to stiffer challenge for him.

I was referring to L.Dallalyo about the hanging up the boots.

Not wishing to take this off-topic, but on what basis should Dallaglio have hung up his boots sooner? He retires at the end of this season and has been a significant player in Wasps' season, albeit not an 80-minuter anymore.

Why shouldn't he be playing?

Because Wasps looked a stronger team without him in it. If you compare the 2 games against the Tigers, Wasps are a far stronger team without him in the back row. I see nothing wrong with him playing but still feel that he should have walked away at the pinacle of his career after the 2003 World Cup.
