Mizuno offers new custom finishes on MP iron range

"Golfers have the opportunity to personalise their Mizuno MP irons, following the launch of a special custom finishing programme by the popular Japanese brand.

Created by Mizuno's own club makers at its world renowned manufacturing plant in Japan, iron heads can be adjusted for loft and lie, then plated or finished to the customer's choice before shipping to Mizuno's club assembly plant in Scotland. The irons in the range are the MP-4, MP-59, MP-64 and MP-54.

The eight new finish options include nickel chrome and double nickel plating in mirror, satin, and bright finishes as well as black oxide plating and two non-plated options with gloss and non-gloss finishes. There are also 13 different paint fill colours that can be applied to the head to further personalise clubs.

The custom-finished clubs can be ordered from any Mizuno Swing DNA fitting centre nationwide at a cost of £200 per club."

Anyone who has looked in my bag will know that I prefer dark clubs to shineys (black nickel MP-68's for those that haven't), and up until the last paragraph I was seriously interested, but £1,600 for 3 - PW? Sorry guys, but somebody is having a laugh here; you can get a set of Miura's for less than that. You could probably get a standard set blueprinted for less than that. You used to be able to choose between black nickel and chrome in at least one range at no charge, that option seems to have gone to be replaced by this, and no option to do it on the H-4 (Fli-Hi) range.

Nice idea, but I can't see too many takers at that price.
