Mizuno JPX 900

Had a look at the clubs on line.

Now just need to get my head around changing perfectly good clubs for more perfectly good golf clubs (slightly shinier) and at the same time handing over more money than I paid for my first car.

Its just a matter of time..........

Just back from my fitting at AG and now have a set of JPX 900 Forged irons on order.

Went in hoping to get a set of Mizuno's something that I have considered for a while as my i15's are a little outdated and as AG have an offer of double value I thought I would see what was on offer.

I wanted something that suited my eye and gave me confidence at address so I put all the clubs they had from Benross to Wilson and discounted ones that didn't suit although I was secretly hoping for some Mizuno.

3 clubs really stood out the JPX 900 Forged and Hot Metal and the Titleist AP2 so this is where I started however once in the bay the JPX900 Tour was added.

The Mizuno DNA chose me 3 shafts after 3 6 iron hits the Dynamic Gold S300
Project X 5.5
KBS
With a swing speed of 86 MPH in that order.

I started with the Forged then the Tour and then the AP2's

After lots of hitting and adjusting the Forged won the day and it was basically the consistency of all the shots dispersion was tight and actually these were slightly longer hitting than the Tour and the AP2.

Surprising to myself I actually hit the Tour well but they were just not as forgiving on bad strikes and the AP2 just didn't go well.

3 degrees upright needed and awaiting delivery and much lighter in the bank account.

Got 210 pound off for my i15 and a Orca wedge 12 prov1x thrown in as well and 5-PW so no 4 iron either.

Time will tell wether its money down the swanny or finally Cat1.

Fitted by Andrew who is very knowledgeable and friendly and thanks to Ben the store manager for a good price on my old clubs.

Nice one Tony, hope the new sticks get you down to Cat1

Is Ben a tall thin guy with ginger hair? If so, used to be manager at the Bmouth store, really nice lad.

Good luck with the new bats mate. I saw the Rick Shiels review last night and they look very very nice. The tours don't look too intimidating either.....

I had a hit of the JPX900 Forged at an AG range in Bristol today, never hit a Mizuno club before so did not know what to expect, god these felt loverly loverly, loverly off the face, I want some, wonder how much I could trade my TM TP CBs for !!!

Much better distance that I expected as well!!

I think these are perfect to create a combo set, I miss my MP52's and have never really settled with my RSi TP's, so I can see a change coming I think..

i think the lofts between the 3 sets are slightly diff with the tour being the weakest and the standard the strongest.

Tour 7 iron is 34 deg Forged 31 so a bit stronger.

wish they would do the lofts all the same then you could have comp set no problem.

I think Srizon do this??

Standard and Forged sets are identical loft wise, Tour is much weaker.

Soon to be joining the JPX 900 club as have a set on order. I tried the hot metals and the forged and also the callaway 16 apex's. Had my mind set on the forged, playing off 9 those were the ones that made sense but surprising enough have gone for the hot metals as having not been satisfied with my current MP25'S these felt like cheating as hit them sweet time after time. I was there over two hours i think in all. Also prefer the bigger heads for my chip and run shots round the greens. However only negative is thinking the forged would grow better with my golf as I hopefully shave a couple off the handicap this year but having struggled so much with consistent ball striking over the winter months especially it will be so nice to feel confident with an iron in my hands again.

I'm the complete opposite, i found it hard to chip with the JPX and got little or no distance control, compared to the MP4 i have now or the MP62 i had before
