Mizuno irons

TonyN has a set and loves them, well he was last time he mentioned them.

They are cracking looking clubs but a little too "playable" for me.

Hi Bob, I currently own a set of MP 52's and I'm very impressed with them. They don't quite have the feel of the Mizuno blades, but to be honest there isn't a huge difference. On slight miss hits you wont lose a huge amount of distance as they have a cavity back from the 7 iron up. They have a mid ball flight which doesn't balloon but a lot of that is down to choosing the correct shaft.

Unfortunately I can't compare them to Pings as I have never owned a set. I had a go with the S57's which felt very similar.

I've played Mizuno's for a while now, I previously had the MP 32's which were awesome. But I thought why make the game any harder for myself as you had to be on your game with the long irons, hence why I swapped them for the MP 52's.

Tried them last week when getting custom fitted felt good but produced to much spin for me ,ended up with Callaway X22 Tours ,a set i'd never thought OF as wanted Mizuno's but gave them ago and was averaging 18 yards longer with my 6 iron against my AP2'S

I play the MP-57s and they are by far the best club I have ever used. Not overly forgiving, just forgiving enough. To put it in lady terms, it's like having a drop dead gorgeous bird on your arm who for most of the time you treat well and she 'rewards' you on a regular basis. Then you go and do something a bit stupid (hey, you're a bloke after all) and because she's not dumb, she won't still 'reward' you, but because she's not a beeatch, she won't chop it off either. SHe'll give you a bit of a rebuke, but still let you sleep in the same bed.

Does that help? :)

Personally. I prefer something a little easier. ;)

Hi Bob,
I tried the MP52's and also the Titleist AP2's at the same time last Sept, before going for the AP's, as I struck them better.
However, it was possibly down more to the shafts, the AP2's had the ProjectX 5.5 shaft, and the 52's had the Dynamic Gold S300 I think it was, which didnt suit me, too dead.

Coming from Zing2's, which I had used for years too, it took me a while to fully adjust, and I certainly found I hit them less far initially, but that seems to have evened out now.
However, I certainly prefer the cleaner lines of a 'players' type iron now, and so far this season, they've helped me down from 11.6 to 9.8, so something's working.

Having said all that, I do love the look of the S57's, which as a Ping man, you have perhaps tried anyway ?
Reports suggest they are a club longer than a lot, but that possibly ges for a lot of Ping stuff anyway, in my experience.

Hi Bob,
I feel that if I pass comment it will sound like I'm trying to teach my grandmother how to suck eggs. But here goes all the same.

I was custom fitted at a Mizuno centre because I like Mizuno clubs. I'm sure most of the major club manufacturers would have something in their range that could be custom fitted just as well for me. However, psychologically I have to feel comfortable with the looks of the club in front of me, and particularly if it's an iron with the word "Mizuno" stamped on it! As a great deal of the game can be won or lost in your head, these clubs give me a head start.

It was from an article I read that provoked me into taking a no obligation custom fitting with the MP 52's. I really wanted to try them out as I wasn't sure if they were beyond my capabilities, and the only way was to hit a few balls and what better way than a custom fitting.

I am a 16 handicap average club golfer, but these clubs have rejuvinated my enthusiasm for the game. For a muscle back club, they seem very forgiving and the feedback is so intuitive. They may not be the longest club out there, I think the lofts of Mizuno clubs are generally higher than their average conterpart manufacturer, but the control and feel is something else.

Although I didn't try them, I would imagine the MP 62's may be better suited to your game Bob. The 62's appear more of a blade than the 52's, and so behave more like a classic bladed club should.

I want some new irons.

Is it morally wrong to sell a child to fund them?

Hell no.
Irons dont argue, throw up, come home late, get pregnant, eat you out of house and home and put you in a home when your 50
:D

Check the for sale/wanted forum, one male child, turns 5 this month.

Will exchange for a new set of irons o.n.o

I use MP29's, got them custom fitted about 9 years ago. Every time i take the covers off they make me feel great. When you hit them right, nothing comes close.
