Anyone had a fitting from a local pro as opposed to one of the national fitting centers?
I would love to go to a fitting center but they aren't exactly local to me, so I'm going to a local pro. The heads aren't important any mizzy is superb, it's the shaft I need to be right, have the local pro's got the gear to get this right? I don't want to buy a lemon again.

Drawboy, i went to clubhouse golf and they had a launch monitor and software aswell as the mizuno fitting cart, they fitted me as any national fitting centre would.

So long as your pro has the fitting cart, range or launch monitor/software then i see no reason for the pro to fit you as per mizuno.spec.

Most PGA pro shops stocking Mizuno should have the swing DNA device to help identify a suitable shaft but I'm not sure how many will have a launch monitor as I understand from our pro that they are really expensive.

Don't know how far you might want to travel but according to the Mizuno website there is a Regional Fitting Centre with "computer aided analysis" at Grange Park Golf Club in Rotherham. Might be worth giving them a ring if it isn't too far.

Maybe some of the local Yorkshire lads on here can advise.

If they are an approved Mizuno supplier, than they will have what it takes to carry out a Custom Fit session.
I've had three sets CF'd by a local stockist without any problems. Only my last set was fitted after using the Swing DNA equipment and software as it has only been out for a couple of years. On each occasion, the stockist had a variety of shafts for me to try. I suppose you might have issue sif you're looking for something not on Mizuno's list of shafts, but may last fit had a full cart of shafts to try if it had been necessary. Swing DNA gives a good starting point though ;)

Having been through several custom fits recently, for me, there is no substitute for a national fit, purely because they have more shafts on offer and you have access to a Mizuno technician, a specialist in fitting. They will have a full template to give you an end-to-end fit, thus you'll know you've been given a complete service.

If you can't make it to a national centre, then ask the local pro what they offer, how they do it, etc. Swing DNA is a must (yes, very recently I've had a regional Mizzy fit that didn't offer the Swing DNA ). Key thing is to ask what shafts they have available on test...expect to see range of Project X, DG, maybe KBS, Nippon. Ask what LM they use and how they use the data, outside hitting, etc. Finally, you need to know who is doing the fitting...you don't want an inexperienced fitter giving you basic sales patter.

Drawboy, there's Shay grange at Bradford. They have the DNA and Flightscope, so they should be able to sort you out.

That's where i had mine done, decent set of guys up there also.

u say ur not worried about what heads ! i think ur wrong - it`s not ur centre hits that are important -it`s ur off centre hits ..and a blade type head will give u less with ur off centre hits that`s for sure ...it should be a combination of both head and shaft ..good luck

i agree with all that `piece` has said -other thing i`d add is take some old balls that u play with - ie pro v`s callaway`s etc - i went to the mizuno national centre in clydebank and they used old scabby practise balls that didn`t have any life left in them ...so didn`t get true readings ,pretty poor for a top brand custom fit centre

The Mizuno DNA fitting cart is a great bit of kit as it gives you 3 shaft options. Good if the cart has the shafts you want, for meit didn't as I needed the shaft hard-stepping and soft stepping.

Nothing will beat a national fitting centre and the good thing is you don't feel pressured to buy them there!

This was my only gripe with the fitting experience at Mizuno.
