hi guys, i am looking to get custom fitted for a set of mizzis. I have been looking on their website and they have their own custom fit centres and then the regional centres. does it make a difference which centre I use??? Also any tips on DOs and DONTs during the custom fit session (its my first time).

The national centres in Wrexham and Glasgow will be shutting next year, leaving only the one Darn Sarf open. Mizuno say that they are so confident in tha abilities of the fitters at the regional centres, using the swing DNA and trackman etc, that the national centres are no longer viable. With regards to the DO'S and DONT'S. The biggest thing is "Don't worry". Take your clubs and have some time warming up. Its better into an open range with a few range balls. Have an idea of your abilities, this will help the fitter work out the best heads to try. And most importantly, remember that the fitter can only work on what you tell him. If something feels wrong with a particular set up, then say so. Try all the shafts and heads suggested, check the dispersion and distance and then spend some time hitting your favourite set up, just to make sure...

Didnt realise the centre at Glasgow was closing. Roland who fitted me was very knowledgable and knew his stuff, even took the p*$$ which made for a great couple of hours in his company. One thing he said that struck me was he's got a bigger selection of shafts, heads and the like but mainly he sells you what you need and not what the pro wants to sell you. One other thing he can only fit you for what youre like on the day, so as mentioned get warmed up and even have plenty of practice in the preceding week to make sure you're ready to go. Good luck you'll love it!

That's not the impression I got of Roland.I agree that he was a nice guy etc, but I don't think he was very good at all.The swing DNA thing recommended two shafts - Dynamic Gold SL R300 and Projext X 5.0 - and I didn't even get to hit a ball with either.

He said I would be stiff rather than regular simply on the basis that I'm a low handicapper.I would have liked to at least test this theory. He said there was no point in trying the Project X on the basis that I had Rifle shafts before and didn't get on with them.Aye I didn't get on with them because they were far too stiff for me at 6.0.

I have also been to Taylor Made at Kingsfield and I must say they were fantastic.Any time I am looking to get clubs fitted in future, that's where I will be going.

Getting made to measure is brilliant, and does make a difference. Personally I prefer to go to a good independent who has all the major manufacturers and shaft options. It may well be that although you have a preference for a particular brand it may not be the best option for you.

I went with Mizuno as a preferred choice but the stats said another was the best option. It worked for me.

I purposely didn't post up who for obvious reasons to those who know - wouldn't want to appear biased. The first time I had it done wasn't there and was for the my reasons in my original post.

However, if anyone wants to put business my lad's way I'm sure he'd appreciate it

I have already sent 2 people this week to clubhouse golf. Both for a custom fit and a new set of Ping G20's. Like I said, I couldnt fault the service, and the prices were unbeatable. He obviously does a cracking job.
