Why don't they call them 2 Wood like they did years ago.
Hate marketing guff...
They aren’t, well not all of them. Mine is a big headed 3 wood
Fairway driver? ?
I know this is easy for me to say as someone who enjoys hitting driver - but if you struggle with it, why would a smaller face help?? I understand shortening the shaft and adding loft, but then why not just do that and still have the driver head with the larger face?
Yeah, but I'm saying that shortening the shaft and adding loft could achieve this, but I don't really see how making the face smaller helps.I can only assume to try and keep the ball in play more? My 3 wood is less wayward than my driver on a bad shot!

I'm the same with 3 wood, always been useless to me. What you're saying makes some sense though, I guess it's just about it looking more in proportion.I can’t answer for everyone but for me a shorter shaft with a driver head just felt wrong, sort of wafty and light, I just couldn’t get to grips with it. The slightly smaller head just seems to look right with the shorter shaft.
I’ve tried 3 woods before, I didn’t find them any better off the tee and I cannot hit them from the fairway at all.
